So I sold my first Two-Rock a little while back, a Custom Built Amethyst Special with a 4 x El-84 Power Section and other mods. Bill built it himself back in the day!
So that I could buy the only amp better than a Two-Rock...
A K&M Custom
I bought it directly from Bill - It's serial #40 with some cool mods, like a test point for biasing... I REALLY love it! The best cleans that I have ever heard, and singing leads for days. A truly fine instrument.
I just thought that I would share a pic with all of you, and give Bill and Joe a Nod' for their incredible work.

I was also hoping for some history on my amp.
Does anyone remember Custom #40?
I know that this forum is fading lately, hopefully we can all keep it going!

Thanks

Here's how she looks now- I am running it with a rare Ceramic H1 Tone Tubby, with the old green-ish cone. Great lows for a 1x12 combo!

Hi folks! I finally pulled a trigger and got the ultimate amp on the planet. I almost bought either a used Custom Reverb Sig V1 or the Custom Reverb Artist that some of the members here have for sale.

But, I ended up buying a very intriguing, one-off Emerald 50 "Sig" head. Bill made this 3 years ago (there are only 2 out there) and has a different chassis and parts from the original Emerald 50.

The folks at Black Creek Guitars tell me it has a more Fender vibe in the clean channel and Robben Ford tone in the drive channel. Can't wait 'til Friday to plug it in!

IT HAS ARRIVED! I called this amp TR Emerald-50- "Bill" because this was a personal project of his, and has his signature on the back panel.

The TR tone is so beautiful I gave this beauty of an amp its own wall away from other amps. And, this amp will be played mostly straight w/ no pedals, etc. The tones are insatiable!

Actually, on the DVD and for his 2007 tour (from left to right), he used a Sterling Signature, Dumble ODS and Mayer Sig all through individual Two-Rock 2x12 Sigs. Pretty unreal setup if I do say so myself!
_________________
Currently have a Sterling Signature, Classic Reverb, Emerald Pro and an Opal through a 2x12 Sig Cab and 1x12 Sig Cab.
I did a little digging around on the net and picked up some NOS RFT ECC83's that are early 1970's with a Halo Getter which I am using in V1 and a 1956 NOS Tung-Sol 5751 with Military Long plates and horseshoe getter for V2 which made a huge improvement for my liking in the attack and calming the compression. Again the 5751 does not have the output of a 12AX7 but gives you a meaty cleaner drive channel which I like for blues. I swapped out the 12AT7 (reverb driver) for a NOS RFT ECC81 manufactured in the 1960's but didnt see a huge difference, at least not with the $40 USD Cost.

I have purchased some TAD 6L6's to swap out the Tung-Sol's that came wiht my two-rock but havent had the guts to try biasing it yet. I am actually here to get the bias instructions now. Not sure Ill see a huge difference though with power amp tubes.
