The C#dim is usually followed by Dm-G7/Cm-f7/Bbmaj7-Bb7/ebmaj7-ebmin7/Dm7-Db7/Cm7-B7. The Dm is the III chord and C# dim (C#EGBb) is equivalent to A7-9 (with no root). Its the V of III.
