Hey all,
My wife and I will be at the early show at Yoshi's on July 7th. Anyone else going to be there? I'd love to say hello, put a face to the name, etc. This will be my second RF show, and I'm psyched to say the least! The first time (also at Yoshi's) I saw Robben play live we were sat right up front at his feet. Very, very cool! I did walk out shaking my head at just how musical Robben was. I knew he was fantastic, but seeing him live...
WHEW!

I'll be there that night too, but probably getting there too late for great seats. Trick to Yoshi's and Robben. Second or third row of tables, from center to 1/3 of the way to the right. Robben tends to turn toward the band. Also getting too close or to the right of center puts you in line with the Dumble X5 space demodulator. Daved keeps warning folks, and they keep sitting in the front row right in front of it.
If you want to recognize me, there's pics on my www link.
PS. I just found out that Robben booked Wednesday at Kuumbwa in my neck of the woods, but I have a rehearsal scheduled that night and the second show is still too early. Rats. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Cool that you'll be around, I'll watch for you. I'll take your advice on the seating, if I get a choice.
Thanks! |

Gonna be there for both sets on Saturday the 9th.
Does anyone know if Robben allows non-flash photography???
Saw him a few years ago at Yoshi's and he's something special. He mixed up the blues and jazz rock pretty well.
His drummer at the time seemed more comfortable with the jazz rock stuff. _________________ Rick Calic

Hey We No Speak,
Robben is usually gracious about non-flash photos if flashbulbs aren't going off in his face, especially if you do not want to shoot a bazillion of them. Post show, he is more than gracious about letting fans take photos of him, with him, etc.
Yoshi's is such a fantastic venue in which to see him...I think it is the best. You are in for a superb treat!

Did you know about Wednesday night at Kuumbwa? Their website doesn't say sold out yet. Unfortunately, I have a rehearsal that night so I have to wait until Thursday. See you'all there. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Thanks much. I'll bring my camera.
P.S. Maybe I'll see you there - I don't look anything like my avatar, I have more hair... _________________ Rick Calic

Yes, Robben is very gracious. Thanks to artists like Robben & venues like Jazz Alley who allow non- flash photography...they make it possible for amature concert photographers (like me) to improve our "chops". Here are a few from Jazz Alley on 07/03/05.
I only wish Robben would have let me get a few with his tele...oh well, maybe next time!

Great photos, Ramiro. Any more? You should also post whatever you have in the artist photos section of this online discussion network...
BTW, what type of camera did you use for these photos (I'm guessing it's some sort of a Nikon)? _________________ Soul on Eleven |

Great photos! This goes to show, in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, flash isn't necessary.
Just like in those hands, that Les Paul sounds unlike any that I've ever played. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.
