I just came home from the 7pm RF show at the Kuumbwa. Sat 2nd row center, right in front of the 2x12 cab. He played mostly the tele (yea!) and the Black Baker. Pick dents all over that Baker!
That amp sounds like it always does live - no change over the years. I'm willing to bet he plays a lot louder than most of the RF-tone-clipsters on the various boards. He's beating the hell out of those speakers, and that gives him a lot of that grind that I think people try and replicate in their clips with their amps.
It's a BRIGHT amp too. He tones it down by the way he picks and with the volume pedal and volume/tone pots. 80% of the time he had the bridge pup tapped on the Baker. 85% he was on the bridge pup, whether playing rhythm or lead, regardless of which guitar was being used.
Who knows what they did in the studio with his various recordings (lots of different guitars as we all know by now). Same amp though! Lots of different tones. I'm glad some have found their holy grail RF tone for their sound clips of holy grail RF tone.
