Today I watched a couple of pictures of Robben through the years (1981 till 2005) and I only noticed a ring at his lefthand. So I believe he created scattered lacquer pock marks are made by a tapping pick.

Wow, being this is California i'd say the ring marks are a job for ...Dr. Henry Lee, Ph.D.the world's foremost forensic scientists. He has over 35 years practical experience and knowledge from several fields of medicine, chemical analysis, physics, biochemistry, and material science
Dr. Lee is best known for his work in forensic serology, which is the identification of blood, hair, semen and tissue types. Dr. Lee is also known for his work in fingerprint matching, ballistics testing, fiber and paint sample investigation, and blood splatter and crime scene reconstruction.
key word:paint sample investigation!
I was simply making a point that the "tiger walk" guitar was much lighter in color and had off white p/u rings and looked more like member Bill Morgan;'s guitar I also belive this was RF's guitar

Hey there one and all, Mean Gene on the scene and just letting you all now I just relisted Robbens Guitar on eBay as it didnt meet the reserve last time, this time the reserve has been deleted but added a buy now, basically we cant let if go for under $5G's so if anyone prefers to work direct just give me an email or call the shop. www.finetunedinstruments.com 805-343-2686 Also I now have the unreleased track of Moon Child Blues and the hand written letter directly from Robben for its authentication.
As far as the ring goes, Jeff Rivera was teching for Robben back at the time and the pock marks were even confusing to him when the guitar first came back to Fender for the refin. Everyone was puzzled and Jeff paid close attention for the next few shows and I even attended one down at the Coach House as we both got to witness how the marks came about and solved the mystery.
There were some questions I addressed in this relisting of the instrument regarding neck shape and size as well as the instruments weight which should help anyone interested in any further questions you may have.
