My wife & I saw Robben play last Saturday. We were both very pleased at the show and the sound quality. The audience had a special treat when Eric Johnson dropped by to sit in for a couple of tunes!

Robben & Roscoe seem to have a new drummer. She was quite good -- especially given the elevation at Copper (nearly 10,000 ft). Robben introduced her and again said her name at the end of the set, but (of course) I'm not good enough with names to have it stick.

Was she sitting in for that gig or is she now *the* drummer? What was her name? I probably ought to mention that the female members of the audience really perked up when they saw that Robben had a woman playing drums with him.

Thanks,

That was Hillary Jones. She's played with some heavyweights including I believe Scott Henderson and she has a website so you can learn more about her from that.

Not only is Hilary a fantastic drummer, she's been known to hang out here on the board now and then.

I know we're all glad to have her around.

Not "new"--I believe Hilary's been touring with Robben for quite a while now. Really enjoyed her playing with Robben at a show here in Chicago last year.

Some of the shows this year have been with Hilary and Roscoe, some with another rhythm section.

Been meaning to order Hilary's album (which features Robben)--must get that done soon.

Cool It was great to see the pics of Hilary from the Colorado show. I heard her live for the first time in Feb. 2004 in Santa Barbara, when Robben kicked off a lengthy tour with the quartet that included DeWayne Pate and Bob Malach. Later in the tour I learned that the rest of the band had nicknamed her "Buffy," and I knew exactly why. She's a powerful player, and if she ever lost a stick in the direction of the audience, it would go right through someone's heart.
