This is now a moving target Any thoughts on the Fender Blues Deville 4X10? _________________ "Creativeness often consists of merely turning up what is already there. Did you know that right and left shoes were only thought up a little more than a century ago?" - Bernice Fitz-Gibbon 1894-1982 |

I mic it and it handles everything I need it to. It's been very dependable so far. The only downside is that it doesn't have a standby switch, but I just turn the master volume off on breaks. I'd buy another one if anything happened to this one.

There's a great idea, one of those Riveria/Fender 1-12 Concerts. Maybe a Zendrive pedal for a more Dumble like OD sound although the internal OD tone is usable. Garth Webber, who occasionally checks in here, has stopped carrying his Super to the recent gigs I've seen, and is just using the Concert. Loud enough to handle any unmiked gig, and you can mike it for larger venues. Fairly small. And built using decent parts, although I've heard ones where a better speaker gave it a new lease on life. The DeVilles are becoming popular backline amps as they're fairly loud, cheap and a known quantity. Cheaper and lighter than Twins or even Supers which have been backline mainstays for years. The DeVilles are built to a price point, so they have cut a few corners on the size of the transformers and quality of the speakers, but they are still reasonable. If I had a gig tomorrow and found my stuff stolen or some such disaster, I'd be comfortable running down and grabbing a 2-12 DeVille to get me though. Never really been a fan of 4-10 amps, too scooped sounding to me, but even a 4-10 DeVille would work in a pinch. If I found one in a backline for some one set short thing, I'd leave my Fuchs in the car and use it. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Yo Niner, what kinda speakers are in that music man 210/65. I have one thats JBL loaded and it sounds great at any volume. I orignally bought it because I was tired of humping around heavy amps that i cant turn up in small clubs anyway.

I tried and old Vibrolux the other days and it has the sweetest Fender sound I've ever heard. It's a 2x10". It's lighter than a twin and it sounds great with a cheap Boss SD-1 pedal.
I would look at a Deluxe reissue as well.

Bluenote: I've checked the speakers and there's no indication of the make. I bought the amp when I lived in Rome in 1986. It sounds really sweet at lower volumes - around 4\5 on the master volume and a little lower on the channel volume. I try to keep the channel volume down, otherwise I get far too much mud. I have a Heritage 535 with Barden Two-Tones on it and that sounds fine, but my Strat (Dimarzio HS-3 neck, Fender Custom Shop 54 bridge in the middle position, and HS-2 in the bridge) just produces an indistinct "blaring" noise at anything over half volume. Same goes for my Tele.
By the way, I decided to go for a Peavey Classic 50 2X12 and so far I'm very happy with it. Will be gigging it tomorrow night so we'll see what it's like when played in anger. _________________ "Creativeness often consists of merely turning up what is already there. Hi Johnny,
thanks for the hello. Good to hear from you too. I haven't been playing or posting much in the past couple of months...I've began practising again these days.
Here's an old blues clip I did some time ago:

Hé, Nineacres,
Do you still lookin' after the right choice of buying a FENDER TWIN or a HOT ROD DEVILLE ?
I can only say this :
I use currently a FENDER TWIN (red knob) and use him now for more then 10 years ! It's the most clean FENDER you can get, also the overdrive is fantastic. You don't need pedals and somelike "toners" to get your sound.
THE TWIN gives you all you need and all you want !
If you look at the website www.2dehands.be or www.2dehands.nl, you find somewhere a FENDER TWIN in secondhand and good by price.
New will cost you a fortune ! (but if you can pay its worth it !!!) I payed my fender twin straight new in 1993 and had until now once one lamp fixed, that's all.
The sound stay and you will see that everytime you use him, it will sound like you want it to sound ! I have 2 x 100 watt woofers. The weight is a minor point : it's a havy piece, but it's realy worth it !
Hope that I could bring you to a good choice !
Greetings,
Fill, Brussels. _________________ Filmore |

Hi Fill,
As I mentioned earlier, I decided to go for a Peavey Classic 50 - true, it's no super high-class amp, but I'm very pleased with the sound I'm getting out of it - just the right amount of saturation, no muddy, indictinct blaring that unfortunately I was getting from my Music Man. Being a class A valve amp, the clean sound is just what I wanted. Next time I get a windfall, I'll get the Twin _________________ "Creativeness often consists of merely turning up what is already there.
