|
|
Hi all, I organized a little guitar weekend within the arts festival FOEN-X in Hard/Austria (near Bregenz at the Lake of Constance) from Friday Sept.2 to Sunday Sept.4. On Saturday 3rd we play a RF-tribute program with my band NICK'S NOISE and believe it or not our beloved henkholland will drive 10 hours with wife, dog, guitar and amp just to join us. We made a nice selection from the RF-songbook and later that evening great German Jazz guitarist Michael Sagmeister will hit the stage. Friday and Sunday also nice artists. Worth a trip for anyone.
For those who read German: www.foen-x.com
BTW Sat. Sept.3 is Dal's 50th birthday. For Dal: I already had mine and I tell you it feels horrible, you feel young all your life and suddenly wake up old, 50 years old, they say a man in his best years but face the facts: the good years are definitely OVER, GONE, VANISHED
Just kidding...I love the reflection of my face in my metal toilet paper holder every morning...

Robben's spirit will be there? You mean spooky things going on? But... he is still alive, isn't he? I'm frightened, I think we should cancel the whole thing... |

Oh, how I wish I could join you all, especially since I'm also hitting the 50 year old club really soon (10/05/1955).
Please, tape this event. I would love a copy!
Thanks,

believe it or not this remarkable event will be filmed and after passing a hard censorship edited on DVD and will open a series of unintentional humour DVDs |

I say forget the editing & packaging... it just creates marketing & distribution problems
Will you consider a live broadcast via Internet
We can ALL share the weekend real-time _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

no, the show will be censored first, all my mistakes will be erased....and my voice overdubbed by Joe Cocker. We will leave Henk's performance as it is :-) maybe then we will broadcast |

Ed, would you please translate some of this for us ? Especially curious about "schizophonischer saiten-surfer" ?

OK warrior, I'll do my best. Hard to translate as my friend's language (a journalist who wrote it) is very special intellectual humor that lives from the language ( many people don't understand it in the original version). Here's my broken English:
What links the Band from Vorarlberg (Austria's most western county) and the Dutch guitarist Henk van der Kolk? No, not the interest on chess-masters of the 19th century, but their commen enthusiasm for guitarist Robben Ford. Robben who? you might now be asking. And this is exactly the six-string strangler's problem who was born the 16th December 1951 in Ukaiah/CA. Because this man is a world renowned "guitar stinger" who has played actually with everybody, from Jimmy Witherspoon, Joni Mitchell, George Harrison to Miles Davis. Nevertheless he never made a superstar like for example Eric Clapton.
Robben Ford - transcendental Blues Burner, schizophonic string surfer, pilgrim on the mystic sound mile, a legend still to be explored.
At their mutual concert Nick's Noise and Henk van der Kolk will faithfully present excerpts of the RF songbook. Historic-critical coverversions after the masters example (model?). "Homework" well done: Nothing but the blues but with a certain esprit. |

Ed, thanks for taking the time to translate. "Pilgrim on the mystic sound mile" -- oh that's great! Sounds like it's going to be a wonderful festival. _________________ Travelling by train of thought |
