We all missed you (as you now know!!!!). I wondered if you left us for some language message board/forum, or perhaps you were just too busy with a new business replicating Robben's foot and clothing fashions (we miss your begging of what he was wearing at various gigs; it kind of broke up the music topic nicely in my opinion). Miss your grammer correction too
Anyway, it's great to have you back gracing these pages.
Cheer's,

Hi
I have a Line 6 Pod 2, a pod xt pro live, and a variax. I know at first, Line 6 stuff can be very confusing. You have to get a little used to them. They are preset with some basic tones, but you have to really customize them to your liking. You can also download thousands of other Line 6 tones from their web site.
I found that the line 6 amps are easier to use with the floor board. Some of the controls are like hold this button while turning this knob and like I said, you really have to get used to them.
I've learned that I have to think ahead and plan my presets, otherwise if you want to change tones and the one that you want isn't one of your four choices in the current bank, you have to go find it. You really have to plan those presets out.
Oh, by the way, what kind of problems is he having? _________________ JT

Thanks JT, and I will apologize in advance, as I don't know ANYTHING about gear, but I do know that he adored the same model, when he played it at a friend's house. First job, saves up more money than he has ever had before, and it was a wonderful event to behold as his mom!
When he got his new baby home, at first he thought that one of the speakers had a loose wire, as no sound was coming from it. He took it into the shop, and it played fine with their guitars. Then he decided that the problem was in his guitar, so he brought that in. It seemed to work great while in the store (you know how Murphy's law is!) but at home, he did not get the sound of his beloved Angus Young. (Hey, he's 16, what can I say?)
I suggested we take BOTH in to the shop, so the techs can see (hear) whatever it is he is, or is not, hearing.
After years of reading posts from many of you who know so much about gear, I figured this was the place to ask, as the combined knowledge and wisdom of this group is vast.
I will give you an update after our trip to ye olde music store (and I will try to get him to explain the problem.) He is quite the guitar player, and has been chosen as one of 8 young artists to perform in a concert being put on by the city (pleasanton Cultural Arts Council.) (PROUD MOMMY, HERE!) Students had to make a videotape of themselves to enter the competition, and apparently, there were thousands submitted.
This will be his first real "gig" and he wants everything to be as good as it can be. (October 8, if anyone is going to be in the area...tickets are available through www.pleasantonarts.org/concerts.htm S'cuze me ,my buttons are bursting!!! Oh come on, go there just to see the poster!!! _________________ www.elizabethgage.com
Good luck to Andrew and I'm sure the music meister at ye ol musik shop will get him off on the road to AC/DC in no time.
His amp should have come with the Line6 Monkey software. He can hook up his amp to a free USB on the computer and download the Angus Young tone from Line 6.
Uh Oh, that means he will be on the computer a lot. You might have to get another computer for yourself. _________________ JT

Elizabeth: The link to the concert is great. Best wishes to Andrew and his fellow performers.
In the meantime, this weekend I ran into my friend the guitarist/Fire Chief. Seems he sold his Line6 some time ago, and now uses a big Fender digital amp. He liked the Line6, but felt it didn't have the "umph" he needed. Also, late in its life the pedalboard had problems, but knowing the types of joints his band plays in, I figure that was a function of the amount of beer that got dumpted into it.
Off to Lancaster tomorrow night. Hope to post a review before the end of the week. _________________ - BlueRunner

I was going to say, "Did I really say 'dumpted'??" But when I looked at the word again, it seemed to describe exactly what happens to some gear in certain types of venues. _________________ - BlueRunner

Hello, I recently purchased this amp with very high hopes. My friend has one, and I absolutely fell in love with it's tone. When I made my final decision of buying it, I brought my personal guitar to his house to see how the amp sounded with it; to make sure I would still enjoy the tone. It sounded great! I bought one of the amps at a nearby music shop, yet when I came home and tried it out, became severely disappointed. With the exact same LED and tone settings, and amp model, the amp sounded completely different from my friend's! This confused me, additionally, I noticed that on the same channel volume and master volume settings as my friend's, the amp did not sound as loud. Then something happened, that now occurs 1-2 times each minute, on average. The amp's volume will suddenly grow louder, and the tone will change, then an electronic "POP" noise will happen, and the amp shrinks down to it's previous state! What is wrong with my amp?!? _________________ www.elizabethgage.com

Liz, I didn't catch any of the previous thread. Did he buy this used? Solid state contraptions are harder to figure out, although that Hot Rod Deluxe I found for you a couple of years ago has the dreaded PC board that old tube amp techs hate almost as much as transistors.
Sounds like something is defective and needs to be returned. Does the problems happen more after it's been on for awhile? Electronic gadgets tend to behave differently when they're warm, and transistors especially.
Best of luck. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

No doubt about this. Must be a monday morning model. These modeling amps are stacked with electronics and cannot be fixed in a local store. If this amp is starting a live of his own, you should return it to the shop. Under the propper warranty conditions Andrew should get a similar replacement. Keep us informed Elizabeth! _________________ "Don't play what's there, play what's not there" Miles Davis
I agree, that does not sound like a bad setting. There's something wrong.
But, before you bring it back try the reset. Every Line 6 has a reset sequence that wipes out the user presets and restores the factory settings. You still didn't mention the amp, a Vetta? Spider? Flextone? Pod?
For the Spiders
Press and hold the "A" button as you power the Spider II on. Continue to hold the "A" button for about 7 to 10 seconds after the Spider II is on. This will reset all presets and effects back to factory release settings.
For POD XT
To reset or recall factory presets on the Podxt, press the “SAVE” button, then turn the “SELECT” knob until "Factory recall" appears in the display. Press “SAVE” again.
To reset/recall a single preset, press the SAVE button, turn the SELECT knob to “SINGLE FACTORY CHANNEL RECALL”, then press "SAVE" again.
For the FlextonesII:
Please hold down A, B, C, and D while powering the unit on. This will restore the factory settings and erase anything you had saved on the amp.
For the FlextoneIII
Starting with the Flextone III of, press and hold the "A and D" buttons as you power the Flextone III on. Continue to hold the buttons for about 5 to 7 seconds after the unit is on. This will reset the Flextone III back to it's original preset arrangement. _________________ JT

What a wonderful network of knowledge! I just called Andrew, and he will try resetting it. I will let you know if solves the problem. Aeolian, the amp was new, not used.
Thank you, again, for all your help. This is one fantastic community! _________________ www.elizabethgage.com

Thanks! Andrew will appreciate this help (and so does his mom!)
Monday morning model, huh? You mean after a rough Sunday night?
Yeah! Some guys had a rough Sunday night and went to their work the next day. The first thing they did was putting Andrews amp together. And then you have it!! Bad luck. I hope everything turns out just fine for him, (and his mum!) _________________ "Don't play what's there, play what's not there" Miles Davis
