Hi everyone. Just found this site. I'm currently trying to get a 3 or 4 piece tribute band together up here in Vancouver, B.C, Canada, with the intention of gigging at blues clubs like the 'Yale'. I'm currently getting some contacts with drummers, but no bass players yet. Same old story, be it here or in Hamburg when I played there. Also could use a vocalist, who can sing better than Ford, (not hard). The dream would be a drummer and/or bass player who can sing. I sing a bit, but I'm weak. I'm looking for Ford fanatics who have no problem learning songs quickly by ear, and can handle complex drum parts like 'Busted up'. If you can play like this, I want to hear from you. I'm willing to exchange clips of myself covering some Ford songs if anyone is interested. I know the chance is slight since I'm sure most of you are not in Canada, but it never hurts to try.
By the way, where do I buy this Zen drive pedal? I can't find any sites that sell it.

Hmmmm. Don't know if I'm going there, either. I get the impression from what Robben says at clinics that he puts a lot of effort into his vocal stuff, taking lessons with a vocal coach in L.A. I've heard about, with whom lessons sound a lot like getting Rolphed. Or simply run over by a dumptruck. Having now taken a couple of voice lessons myself, for the first time in my life, I've begun to learn how critical key can be. But you can shift your voice into a good key and end up in a key that doesn't quite make it on guitar. And then if you have a horn section, they come in and grumble about the guitar or voice keys. (I still recall having to transpose stuff I wrote in college so that horns could play their parts. Why did Adolph Sax so hate the rest of us normal musicians?) As a result, some of Robben's vocals are right on the money, and others sound as if he's pressing one end or the other of his range or the center of his resonance, in order to do something for the guitar or other instruments. Still, when someone says that he or she thinks it's easy to sound as good as, or better, than Robben, it sounds a bit like the fan in the seats talking about how that wicked 85 mph slider that the experienced Major Leaguer on the field just swung at and missed "looked easy." _________________ - BlueRunner

Oh yeah, and back on point, spatzi: This sounds like a great project. I'd go out of my way to learn bass parts to take part in something like this, if I could figure out how to get up to -- and spend a lot of time in -- Vancouver. What a wonderful city.
