Just discovered this forum. Robben has been my favorite player, for 15 years? ever since I first heard Talk To Your Daughter in a record store, at which time I bolted to the front of the store exclaiming, "that's the tone!" They told me it was Robben Ford playing. His tone and his licks represented THE SOUND that had been in my head for years, but I had never heard of him as an artist. I eventually saw him play at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano years later, and have always been the guy who buys his latest CD the day it comes out. One night I walked into a Guitar Center late in Dallas, right as they were closing and they had cleared a large open area right as you walk in, and I asked them are you getting ready to mop? and he said, "no Robben Ford is here," and I almost fell out. About 25 of us sat crossed-legged on the floor and Robben stood maybe 8 feet away and played through a stock Twin Reverb right out of inventory, just playing along with tracks he'd recorded onto a CD -- this was back in the early 90's, and he was absolutely spectacular.

I've played ever since I was 10, and just last week bought a TC Electronic 2290 Digital Delay, and literally today bought a CAE 100-ODSH! The amp has what some call the "Dumble Mod" on Channel 1, and along with the 2290, I am hoping I will be able to close-in on some of Robbens great sounds. We'll see. Great to have finally found so many RF fans, and to have a link to the great Daved! Now if I can just get him to post some of Robben's 2290 settings...

All the best, Gill in Houston

Cool Welcome, gillarious. Sorry the Astros couldn't come through at the end. I was pulling for them, while my wife was rooting for the White Sox. So we had a fun series here. (By day I'm a Dodger fan, which these days is really difficult.)
