I haven't really looked for one yet. I've been transporting mine in my double gig bag. I've got a case for my Gibson Blueshawk that might fit. I'll let you know. If not, then the case for my Ibanez AS80 might fit.

Fitted a 1000 k ohm (1 meg ohm) volume pot (for the bridge pick-up only) on Saturday. Took me around 90 mins to make the change as I am not an electrician, and I was also very careful not to damage the finish on the guitar. I can definitely say that the tone has changed because I have been able to lift the bass control on the amp back to around 5 (mid-way). I have also been able to drop the treble and presence back to around 6. This is roughly where I would have the settings for my other and previous guitars. With the Bass and treble back where I like them for this amp, I was able to tweak the mid slightly and have a fairly sweet tone, certainly less dark than it was originally. I have also now been able to re-adjust the pick-up heights to get them better balanced, so I even think that I now have better mid and neck position tones... All in all, I'm sure a better pick-up will improve things further, but I'm not sure I need it now. I need to live with the guitar as it is for a while and jam it with other musicians again to see how it cuts.
BlueLobster, I'm looking forward to hearing your comments on the proper JB/59 combination when you get round to it.
Case-wise, I'm using the Hiscox lite-flite case I had for my previous semi (DeArmond Starfire, bit like a 335 in shape). I currently have some plastic wadding in the case to support the guitar as the case is too large. My intention is to get some red velvet material and 'styro-foam' beads and make some decent pads to stick in the case. |

I tried several different cases and none fit. The case Fig was talking about looks like the case that came with my Clapton Strat, and I didn't try it. Those cases are very heavy if you have to carry one for any distance at all. Fender's molded cases are great, but I haven't found one that fits. I'll have to look at the Gator universal.

I'll get the case from Musician's Friend later this week, and I'll let you know how it fits - and if it's heavy. |

after a few unsuccessful visits to local music shops, I found a hardcase that fits my Esprit. The make is "KINSMAN", made in china obviously!
The case fits perfectly and has a nice shapy figure! Can't see a name for the model, but don't think they make many. Only adjustment, I put some carton box at the bottom of the body part of the case, as this is quite deep, but apart from that, it's a nice affordable case, 'bout £ 50.00 in pounds.

Well, the case from Musician's Friend doesn't fit. And I looked for Kinsman, but couldn't find any in the US. |

Thanks Fig. I'll probably have to get one. Most airports let me carry my guitar on, but a few have been real a**holes about it. The airline that gives me the most hassle is Delta. I have emailed them about it but they never answered. Anybody wonder why they're bankrupt? Anyway, until I get something from an airline that says I can definitely carry it on, I'll go back to hard cases and checking through as baggage.

I called and talked to a guy at Squire (Fender), and he didn't know anything about a case for the Esprit. I gave him the product number, and he said it may be out some time next year.
So we'll see . . . |

It amazes me to the point where I have to chuckle- a high profile guitar maker goes to the trouble to reintroduce a great guitar, but they don't simultaneously offer a matching, protective case for it? But yet, they're thinking about doing so "next year", one or so years later than when they sold their first guitar of this model?
Perhaps, there's a void in Squire's marketing department? Maybe I should forward them my resume? Maybe, this is the start of a new career for me? _________________ Soul on Eleven |
