For those of you who have gone to Robben's clinics, any advice on where to stay in Ojai?

Thanks,

Cal

I stayed at the Oakridge Inn, about ten minutes from downtown Ojai. Nothing fancy- a typical 2 story motel, but it was about the most inexpensive place in the area, and it was clean and comfortable. Gas station/convenience store and decent pizza place within walking distance, plus lots of eateries, coffee shops, and whatever between it and downtown. I would stay there again, unless I hit the lottery and want to pamper myself for $200+ a night. Nah... Laughing

Cool What sort of budget are you on? JohnnyZ's suggestion sounds good. There's also the Blue Iguana Inn and Emerald Iguana Cottages (11794 N. Ventura Ave. Ojai, California 93023 (805) 646-5277), which I've driven by, and look really cute. If B&B is your thing, there are some listings at http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/ojai-california.html

There are also a ton of listings at http://www.visitojai.com/pages/visit/lodging.htm Everything from rental homes to budget motels. The listings include the "Love Shack: Cabin - 1 Bedroom - 1 Bath - (Sleeps 2) Phone: 805.646.1690," which I recognize as owned by one of my clients. He bought an old retreat-commune on nearby Matilija Creek with a bunch of nifty little cabins, and he's fixed them up really nicely. One of them was a regular get-away for the late Beatrice Wood, the amazing artist and dancer who lived to be 103, and given that she had her own fabulous home in the Upper Ojai, that tells you something about how nice a place this was to retreat to.

If you're bringing a spouse who complains all of the time about the amount of money you spend on gear, get even by staying at The Ojai Valley Inn, a really, really nice five-star resort hotel. (And let your spouse do her own "clinic" at the Inn's health spa.) But I'll warn you -- unless you have a deep wallet, you won't be able to afford even picks and strings for a while after you stay there. The drive up from Ventura is only about a half hour, and that opens up a whole new realm, including small hotels, chain motels, and beach hotels.

And if you're REALLY on a budget, the County Parks Department finally fixed the restrooms at nearby Camp Comfort. (Which, until they finally repaired everything, wasn't the least bit comfort-able.)

Good luck!
