Hi Guys,
this is actually my first post here, althought I?ve been lurking around this forum ever since it started, it?s a great place for Robben?s fans, thumbs up! Anyway... yesterday, I got my hands on the new GTR (guitar tool rack) pluging from Waves and after few minutes of messing with the settings, I was able to dial quite nice Fordish tone. It really surprised me! Check it out and tell me what you think.

www.lukemartin.cz/music/robben_talk.mp3

P.S.: the backing track comes from 2003 August issue of Guitar Techniques magazine?s CD. It?s a new version of Robben Ford?s "Talk to your daughter" and it was recorded by Robben himself!

I only played the fills and solos...

Great playing, Luke! And, glad that you contributed to this fine forum!

Can you possibly make the backing track available for download? I would definitely appreciate it!

Oh, yes my ears really pricked up with that!!!!

Nice one Luke! I liked the solo. The tone is frightfully good for computer software. What software, plugin, settings, colour socks (well maybe not), I want to know everything about it?! What other gear was used on the clip, if any (yeah I know, a guitar Laughing )?

I am even more impressed with the playing and tone on your web sites other clips. You have really nailed the RF tone on some tracks, albeit through my computer speakers play back. What the hell did you use to do it? I would love to hear you with the Zendrive and your Super reverb Cool

Great playing Luke, hang around buddy Very Happy

Cheer's,

DD

It's no good Luke, you have really done it now, you have blown me away Exclamation

I have just listened to the :blues in A clip, and it is great, I mean really great. Great playing, and the tone, well, get ready for a ton of questions (well it deserves it in my mind).

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. I mean it!! Not even your hair style!!! Youv'e REALLY found the RF tone, mate!

So exactly what was used on that clip?

Cheers,

DD

Thanks for kind words Dude..Smile

I used my 1968 ES-335 (98% stock, except for stop tail conversion) plugged into LA Audio pasive DI, into Studio Project SP828 mic preamp, into Alesis HD24XR (used only as a AD converter) into RME HDSP9652 audio card. The plugin I used for the main sound is called Waves GTR, you can download the demo version here http://www.waves.com/content.asp?id=1696

... as for the two track recording on my website, it?s far away from what Robben uses:) It?s a Tyler Landau classic strat through ?68 bass plexi Marshall into VHT 1x12 cab. The amp was set clean and the main part of the tone is for sure my Maxon SD-9.

Cheers,

-Luke

Luke,

A huge hats-off to you. You are an excellent player. I listened to your clips and watched the video. I was also very impressed with your keyboard/piano player I linked to his site and listened to the full versions Up the Line and Chevrolet, you guys are great. I hate to say it but strip out the vocal, it could be Robben's unauthorized bootleg.

You are my new favorite guitar player. I hope Robben gets a chance to hear those recordings I know without a doubt he'd be impressed.

BTW - I'm also of Czech descent.

Stay in touch on this board.

right now, I?m not using any delay unit, but for the video recording I used Lexicon MPX-1, which is now collecting dust Confused I had to get rid of all my rack stuff - I couln?t carry it Sad

Luke,

What's the set-up you're playing through in that video clip besides the Lexicon?

Is there any more video from that session available to see?

Thanks
