Cool Gene Autry, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Other Christmas Classics" (Columbia/Legacy). 18 great ones, recorded between 1947 and 1956. One is a duet with Rosemary Clooney. It doesn't get more Christmas-y than this ('tho I wouldn't be shocked to learn that the only other member of this Board with a copy is ... Daved).

Laughing No, Blue, I don't have that one. You got me there. But, honestly, I'm looking for it now.
Autry & Rudolph, along with Rosemary Clooney would be a fun addition to my collection.

Years ago, I realized that Rosemary was where it all began for me.
With my parent's 78 rpm copy of "This Ol' House".
Rock & roll was being born with my generation and that, in my pre-teen years was the first song that rocked me. The first record I played over, and over, and over, and over. The first song to which I knew every lyric, every note, and drove my parents nuts dancing around the house and singing to the recording over, and over, and over, and over.
The first record I ever accidently broke.
The first song that, when that record broke... hurt.
Rosemary rocked!
And with that song, I first rocked, birthing me into the wide wonderful world of music, influencing me throughout my life into all that I have since become.
Oops, sorry. Embarassed I'll get down from the podium now.

Cool OK, so maybe Daved's collection is a bit short in the Gene Autry department. I will give 7-2 odds, however, that he does have my current in-car favorite: Rhino's 4-CD "Cowabunga -- The Surf Box." Love this stuff. (Bu then, I played in a surf band in the early 60's.) What's most amazing, however, is the number of ancient surf classics for which the lineup includes either Tommy Tedesco or Leon Russell. (Did y'all know that Jack Nitzsche's classic "The Lonely Surfer" features Tedesco AND Russell AND Glen Campbell?)

Leroy Anderson:
- The Leroy Anderson Collection (Greatest Hits)
Percy Faith:
- Tara's Theme / Jealousy
Manfred Mann's Earth Band:
- Manfred Mann 2006
Larry Norman:
- Only Visiting This Planet
Mike Oldfield:
- Tubular Bells (SACD 5.1 Surround)
Pavlov's Dog:
- Pampered Menial
- At The Sound Of The Bell
Andy Pratt:
- Cover Me
Procol Harum:
- A Salty Dog
- Grand Hotel
Queen:
- Queen II
- A Night At The Opera (DTS 5.1 Surround)
Who:
- Who's Next
- Tommy (SACD 5.1 Surround)
Yes:
- Fragile (DTS 5.1 Surround)

(No, I don't have a surround system in my car, but most of my listening as of late has been here at home, where I DO have and I DO like a good 5.1 remix of albums that lend themselves to the benefits and complexity of 5 channels. No, bands like Kiss [in my opinion] do not particularly impress thru such a system.)

I haven't seen it anywhere. I just checked Amazon and they don't have it. That would make a great DVD.

This should really be under the heading of "CDs I WISH I had in my car" but I read a review yesterday of a new 5 CD retrospective set from Richard Thompson. Now I have to figure out what I already have on other CDs, determine if the cuts I don't have are worth it... oh hell, I'm just gonna go buy it! Glad my wife is a huge RT fan, too.

[quote="Bluelobster"]I ripped off Radio a live concert in France by Richard Bonna . Very good.

One of the last times I visit a show of Robben was in Amsterdam 2004 at the Milkey Way. It was a dubble bill with Richard Bona. Richard played very good and performed with a great sense of humour. Unfortunally after that, Robben's gig was more kind of serious and half of the audience left (But of course I hadn't enough after his last note). I recently bought the DVD with Richard Bona called African Tale. A real pleasure to watch. A great musician, singer and bass-player.
