I'm looking for some suggestions for a drum machine to use for practice purposes......strictly to add some rhythm to play along with......not too expensive. Any help would be most appreciated. |

I recently got a Boss loop station phrase recorder for practicing. I'm still learning how to use it, but it's useful when you have nobody else to play with. _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

The Alesis SR16 is an excellent machine that enables you to have two different patterns per song plus two different fills. We use one live for gigs that won't pay for a full band. We also use it for recording and with a live drummer.

Hey, thanks for the question, SFHALO. Now why didn't I thinkof asking that here!
My kid wants a drum machine for the same exact purpose and I've been in a quandary. |

My vote ... I would get the GuitarPort from Line6 ... with a small subscription fee you can learn, jam, and play ... Robben's done several songs ... fun stuff. If you add Rifftracker, you get drums and the ability to record ... you can then lay down tracks for yourself.
Just a thought!
I think the GuitarPort sells for $99. |

I also recommend BOSS DR-5
It is specially designed for guitarists: 4 track sequencer with guitar input, tuner, amp simulator and monophonic guitar synth. Also midi in-out.
Bit old but very nice sounding little box, you can use batterys too.
On Ebay it goes for $70 - $90 |

I've had one for a few years, pretty good tool and fairly easy to program. |
