I got it end of January. Used it maybe 2-3 hours. First of all, is it supposed to go dead that quickly? I used a new duracell and it's already out. Now, I just put in a new one, and I don't get any overdrive tone when I hit the footswitch. The blue light is on.

This is a real bummer. I've got studio time coming up in another week, important singer rehersals, and my zen is kaput!

Anyone else had this problem, with the light working but no tone? Yes, I've got all the volume controls up. When I click the light off, I hear the guitar, click it on, nothing!

Before panicing too much, I'd open it up and see if there is anything obviously wrong, like a loose wire on the footswitch. If you can't see any loose or disconnected wires, then you can go ahead and panic!

I have only fitted the one battery, and it has lasted many hours, and it is still going!!

I have not heard of anyone having a problem with a Zendrive, apart from one guy who plugged in a wrong polarity power supply. Apparently Alfonso sorted him out in no time at all, free of charge.

I too, recommend you check the unit for any loose wiring. Is the battery shorting anything? Take the back off and leave the battery hanging outside the unit, and try the switch again.

Failing the above, get in contact with Alf (e-mail seems best). He is excellent with supporting his product, and he will want to get you up and running a.s.a.p.

Good luck!

I have been emailing Alf. He's going to send a new chip for the switch. I guess that's what he thinks the problem is. Does anyone have a contact phone number for Alf? He's going to send it to an old address that I no longer use, and I need to update him before he sends the chip today!

Alf thinks that the chip was on its way out, and that's also why I noticed the battery draining. I'm spoiled now. I've got my POD xt live, but I still prefer the zen drive!

I don't know the correct term but I had a similar problem with my Mosferatu.
If you try to connect the battery but flips it so the + goes to - and - to + the chip will go dead in a second (or less). Alf sent a new chip for free though.

Sounds like Alf is pretty quick on the customer service, always good to hear.

Hi Johan,

it's polarity reversal!

Maybe Alf should use a simple diode in the circuit directly after the battery/supply input to protect from this scenerio. Perhaps he has already thought of this, tried it, and left it out because it effects the magic of the Zen Wink
