Telefunk1 "I use Gibson Creek Shuffle as an intro instrumental from time to time, too. Fun song to play."
Great song. Around here everyone over 40 remembers hearing them wail though this so you can call it anytime and folks will know the breaks. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

I read that Robben plays on Keb' Mo's upcoming release "Keep It Simple"
Robben and Robert Cray make an appearance on the song "Reily B. King," which is described as an homage to B.B. King. |

Here's an obscure one that I just discovered:
Lenny Williams (former lead singer for Tower of Power) "Taking Chances" (1981). Robben plays on about half the LP (I doubt its out on CD).
Also, the Sylvers' "Forever Yours" of about 1981, and the soul group DeBarge's "All This Love" of 1982. Looks like Robben was doing a lot of freelance work in 1981-1982. Also, he is listed as "Robben Lee Ford" on the Sylvers and DeBarge records, perhaps to distinguish him from some other Robben Ford?). |

In the interests of keeping the Robben discography as complete as possible, there was a French guy whose name I believe was "Christophe" who put together the most amazing Robben discography I have ever seen. I seem to have misplaced it. Perhaps "Christophe" or somebody who has been in touch with him could post it on this bulletin board. As I said, I lost it. But before I did, I copied down some pieces that I have been searching for. I have carried this "wish list" around in my wallet for three years and it has gotten pretty "dog-eared" and hard to read. Nevertheless, comparing it with the previous postings, I have the following additions which do not seem to have been mentioned:
Kiss, "Creatures of the Night" (Robben plays Heavy Metal)
John Alberti, "Short Denim Skirts"
Merilee Rush (1977)
Andy Just, "Rockinitis"
San Francisco Blues Festival 1982
Junko Onashi, "Postcard Fantasy"
Amy Holland, "On Your Every..."
Ute Lemper, "Crimes of the Heart" (1980's)
Highliners, "Favorite Hits for Country Dancing" (1993)
The Glimmer Man (soundtrack?)
Left of Memphis, Left of Memphis (1990's)
Monsters Are Here (1979)
Aurex Jazz Festival (1980)
[somebody] St. James, "Echoes and Images"
In addition, I have a note which suggests that Robben may have recorded with Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Does anybody know anything about that? |

On Gregg Bisonettes' album Submarine, Robben plays on a tune called Cloudy Day, a rockin' blues instrumental, on Come Together: Guitar Tribute to The Beatles Vol. 2, he plays an emotional instrumental version of Golden Slumbers, and on Voodoo Crossing: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix, he plays a smokin' version of Message To Love. |

The "Angels horses & pirates" album by "Little Blue"
Taxim records:1997/8, features Robben on two or three tracks. It also has Dave Grissom, Warren Haynes, Jeff Golub, Eric Johnson, Bob Malach, & Roscoe Beck sprayed all over it, (Great songs too)! |

Well, Robben did play on one Kiss record. He said he sat in the control room and there was this big Marshall in the studio and he got to rock out. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Robben plays on a couple of tracks on a CD Rudy Rotta and friends by Rudy Rotta released in 2004.
Anyone know much about this guy? I have not heard of him.
Judging by his web site he keeps some serious company.

Hi
Wanna hear Robben rock out?
Kiss- Creatures of the Night (solos are definitely Robben, rhythm not sure)
1. Rock and Roll Hell
2.War Machine
I have an old clinic tape from the 80s where he talks about this session, and I remember hearing they asked him to be in the band because they liked what he did and it didn't look too good for Ace Freeley's return. Imagine if you will Robben in face paint. A different world, eh? |
