Daved:
Many thanks for all the info. It is a lot to process (but then we just have read about it - you have to actually live it and make it work!). And I am sure we all appreciate your continued participation on this board.
Now I just have to figure out a way to get over to the west coast, or to Europe, or Japan...
Maybe we should all go in together on lottery tickets (like those guys in Nebraska) and when we win, host a monster party with RF as the headliner.
ABB - if they have an instant live CD available from the Beacon show Robben guests on, I am sure we will all be ordering copies! |

Henk,
As far as I can tell, that project is on hold for awhile. I don't know why (that falls under "management/label" business) but when I asked Robben about it 2 or 3 months ago he said not to expect it, at least for awhile yet.
Sorry 'bout that, but I'll let you know if I hear of anything otherwise. _________________ B C-ing U!

Just spoke with Robben...
Apparently it's a brand new club opening up very soon on Sunset, east of Western, called "Safari Sam's" (5214 Sunset Blvd).
Robben says he will have a core band with people sitting in and out of the group. He says Larry Carlton is hoping to sit in on the first night. I don't know the schedule, so you might want to try to contact the venue or watch the entertainment columns for further info. I think it will be a weekly thing for a month or two. I know he said he still plans to be doing it into April when I get back and he's hoping I'll be free to help him out. _________________ B C-ing U!

I love it! - "Italy and Europe" - We're in a category of our own! ;)
Good news. I hope to be able to see you again, Daved (and Robben, of course...).
cheers

LOL... I better explain myself before someone takes offence here.
When I wrote that, I actually DID think about my wording as I was afraid I might offend either Italians or the rest of Europe by "separating" them. I decided to go ahead and devide them in the interest of defining where Robben will actually be going and hoped I would not upset anyone. I DO hope this is cool. And, if I am wrong in my phraseology, please feel free to correct me and set me straight. I love my trips and visits to ALL of your countries and certainly do not want to make any of you mad at me.
Many here in the Americas make the unaware mistake of lumping the UK, Ireland, the nations of Europe, and any other place "on that side of the Atlantic" all together into one country as I myself often used to do, innocently, before my international travels began. An unintentional mistake which I learned early on can seriously offend many in those countries and nations, just as many on this side of the pond get upset when people speak of the United States as "America" exclusively, without being aware that Canada and Mexico are ALSO part of the American continent.
So, why did I phrase my statement that way?
Because I've noticed in recent years that Robben has taken a fondness to Italy and toured there apart from his tours of the rest of Europe. So, I've been trying to start being more nation specific when speaking of his tours overseas instead of speaking of an upcoming "European tour", when he's actually only going to one or two neighboring countries.
It's similar to saying that, "Robben is doing a national" tour here in the States, when actually he may only be hitting half a dozen different states.... so I try to be more specific by stating "West coast", "East coast", "central states", "Canadian" tours, or by actually listing the States... and so on.
I'm just trying to be clear and fair with my tour info and sincerely hope I have not offended anybodies nationalistic sensibitilties. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved, thanks you SO much! I'll be checking that out right away. I've heard so many stories about people in L.A. being at all these small clubs and seeing Robben in the earlier years and have always been very envious. Looks like now I'll be able to experience the same thing. I'm sure this will also be a great chance to check out some other great musicians. Thanks again! |

Absolutely no offence taken - quite the opposite!
I'm glad to see that those who live here have a special place in Robben's heart and that you've singled us out as a "touring region".
(I hope that my spam mails to Dal:"PLEASE TOUR IN ITALY!" had something to do with it).

Same here David! However, no excuses please, when it comes to touring the UK!! :
I have just recently returned from Venice, Treviso & Oderzo with my work, and I must say I can't blame anyone for wanting to return to Italy. Italy is a beautiful country, and I'm a sucker for the cuisine and wine! Your very lucky Marin!
As you may already know, there are a few famous musicians with homes in Tuscanny. The one in particular I have in mind is Sting. He apparently has a house there, but he insisted that it had no electricity supply.
I had a thought, what if Robben decided to do this!! Just imagine Robben sitting quitetly in his house there, starring at his Dumble and Tele in the corner reminiscing of the days when it spoke his music for him! I can't see it some how!

Here's some info on Safari Sam's & Robben: They have a website on MySpace:
http://www.myspace.com/safarisamsclub
Robben is scheduled to play there with a group called Smoke on Monday, March 13.
On the site is an interesting article on the history of the club and its delay in opening in L.A.
I'm sure several board members will be there...........me included, as long as my shoulder surgery on 03/07 goes well. |

Frank: Thanks, much.....I've been waiting months to get it done. Luckily, I've been able to play during the wait. I'm hoping to be good-to-go to see Robben at Safari Sam's.........we'll see what happens. I'll post info, if I'm able to make it. |
