Thought I'd check in to see if anyone else from this forum is going to see Robben this Friday with Larry Carlton on Long Island. I was able to swing a trip to NYC to visit some clients on Friday and then I'm going to hook up with my cousins and go to the 10:30 show. I'm really looking forward to it!
ScottL, are you going to make it out? |

I plan to be at the 10:30 show too.
I'll either be the drunk, obnoxious guy, or the guy with the drunk, obnoxious guy (depending on which one of us drinks the fastest.)
(I'm kidding, of course?)

I'll be at the early show.
I'm curious about this show. They are only doing this this one night, and I'm assuming Robben will be performing with Larry's band. I thought maybe they are filming a DVD, but the place is not conducive for filming IMO. I heard the new sound system is great. I'm glad because the last time I was there to see Robben it sounded God awful.
It will be a memorable evening for sure.
BTW - I saw Donald Fagen last week. It was excellent, DF was in top form. Great f**ing Band! Wayne Krantz and John Herrington of Guitars. _________________ Rod |

I don't understand going to one set. You have an opportunity to see this whole show, I think I would tweak my other engagements to be there all night. It’s a Friday night for god sakes, take a nap Saturday.
I am so tempted to see Donald Fagan here next week, it is $100 a pop, could be worth it. I saw Steely Dan here for $135, worth every penny.
I look forward to some reviews from Ford / Carlton.

I'm not sure if they clear the venue after the first show or not...some places do...I can't afford to buy TWO tickets for myself, pay for gas from Balto, plus food/drink and a motel room, too...maybe you can send some $$$ my way.
Plus, I figured the later show would be better, what with the guys being warmed up and tuned in to each other, etc...and they're MUSICIANS, so they're night people!
And anyway, my plan is to sit in the parking lot with a 12-pack of PBR (and who knows what else), and listen to old Steely Dan CDs before I go in!!!

Andy,
Yes they clear the place out. It's a small theater, not a club. They do sell drinks in the lobby. Better off lubing up in the parking lot.

Andy, I have read a lot of your stuff, you seem very cool, I mean no disrespect. I just figure your spending all this time and $$ to go, why not see it all.
I go to a lot of shows here in Vegas and in LA, I always hang in the parking lot with a cooler/and whatelse too. Getting primed on $6 beers + tip in a casino does not make financial sense to me.
Dude, if I was near enough to go to this show I would make sure we both were toasted. The second set is almost always better, that is the one to see.
Please let us know what you thought of the show, take care.
