Cool You know, even though L.A. is only an hour away, sometimes it seems like it might as well be Mars. Which is why even though I've lived here as a adult for over 30 years, it wasn't until this past Wednesday night that I finally dropped by Cozy's in the San Fernando Valley. Finally got to see live a guitar player whose CD's I have, Kimberly "K.C." Allison, and her band, "Some Like It Hot." Really a fun time. Great music in a really nice, friendly club. (And to my way of thinking, Allison can do no wrong. On her web page for her guitar lessons, she has a photo of herself, with Robben, at last year's Irvine Lake Blues Festival.)

Anyway, for those of you passing through the L.A. area, "Some Like It Hot" is regularly doing Wednesday nights at Cozy's. Other nights feature everything from the Club's Sunday night "Non-Hokey Karaoke" to nationally touring blues performers.

One question, though: Why did I wait 30 years?
