The first Safari Sam's show was cancelled by the club due to delay's by the city in obtaining necessary permits to open the club. But Robben says this should be quickly rectified and as soon as SS opens, he'll be doing his thing there. _________________ B C-ing U!

Hi Daved,
Any idea if tonight's (3/13) show is on? Its hard to tell from Sam's update on the website what dates he's talking about.
Thanks,
Jim |

Had breakfast with Robben this morning at his favorite upper west Manhattan breakfast spot and discussed schedules, last night's show, gear, and Pink Floyd.
He says everything is set to go at Safari Sam's and they are just waiting on the paperwork to clear so they can get the permits to open. At this point they're hoping to do their first jam night on March 27th.
He's quite eager to get this thing started. Says they're looking at internet availability working with a site called WWW.JamBase.com (enter "Robben Ford" & hit search). He hopes the studio jams will eventually be available for purchase there, too.
He also told me that he just committed to a 2 week UK tour in the fall.
I packed up his new '57 gold Les Paul that Larry Carlton recently gave him along with some cables, strings, and his ZenDrive and he's off to Long Island for tonight's show there. Last night's ABB show was his first public use of the guitar. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved, if at all possible, could you please let us Robben-starved Brits have any news of venues & dates for the autumn tour. _________________ "Creativeness often consists of merely turning up what is already there. Scott,
I don't know for sure.
I doubt it, actually, as Robben has not mentioned anything about it and the Long Island show, plus the Japan tour later this year, are the only shows he's told me about so far.
If I hear any differently, I'll let you know. _________________ B C-ing U!

Hello, Daved,
Did you have a chat with Robben about PINK FLOYD ?
What does Robben feel about PINK FLOYD ?
Greetings,

I've seen many great shows at Blues Alley in years past:
Nancy Wilson...Joe Pass...Joe Sample...some long-haired jazz dude from LA named Larry Carlton...the Clarke/Duke project...
Clarke/Duke was interesting, they bought a huge bunch of equipment to the little club, "I didn't know this place was so tiny!" said Stanley. Stanley was sporting a wireless, and came right up to our table and played in our faces...the womens couldn't resist jumpin' up and kissin' him...he dug it.
Another little club nearby, the Bayou, has collected a bit of my money over the years, for Johnny Winter, South Side Johnny and Asbury Jukes, Rory Gallagher, and others, including some red-neck, hot rod mechanic named Danny Gatton.
I believe the Cellar Door club is now history, but I saw Ralph Towner and Oregon there...Tom Waites recorded "Nighthawks at the Diner" there, it's a great album, btw...and I think Jackson Browne recorded there, too.
Lotta music in D.C.

Robben Ford. European tour.
How can just four words illicit so much joy?!
Please, Daved, get him to England for a gig. Just one will do! _________________ I first started to play guitar 35 years ago... Trouble is, I had 20 years off in the middle. |

Cheebatone, check out the next thread titled '06 gigs. According to Daved Robben will be in England in November for several gigs. Now we need some Alabama gigs - even west Florida will do!
