"I had a hard time finding this incredibly beautiful shirt. Especially 3 for the entire band. I've already got my wig, slicked back with a pony tail. Add a little black stick for the missing tooth, and viola! THE ULTIMATE FORD TRIBUTE BAND! " Shocked

Johnny, I get the impression (or hope to God) he was joking there. I agree with Johnny if you're not. I find obsessive copycat tributes ever so slightly creepy Neutral

Anyone who has actually heard of Robben will be less impressed by authentic shirtery and more impressed by heartfelt melodic guitar playing. Wink and would probably object more to your use of a Parker than your lack of a ponytail.

Couldn't download the clips (kept timing out!) but from the other guys comments it sounds like you're doing good!

Not bad, spatzi!

But, it's all in the music. And especially, as you say, no one knows Robben Ford anyway, so why push the look? Get your audience hooked on the sound while just being yourself. You and the band will probably be more comfortable just concentrating on the tunes, and your audience won't be preoccupied with the props, just the music. And, as it all evolves, then so can the look. In my humble opinion, do the music first, then add the act later...

One of the most successful tribute bands here in the New England area is Beatlejuice, with Brad Delp, formerly from the band Boston. They just simply look as they are, but play the heck out of the Beatles' tunes...

Good luck!

And, did I read somewhere that you have a demo cd? I'd really love to have a copy!

Shocked You thought I was serious? This was a JOKE. I thought it was quite amusing that he actually presented himself in a video wearing that. Not that I consider 'clothes' are any kind of factor with RF, but you have to admit, it's a an 'impressive' garment.

Hard to tell, but, yes, I really thought you were serious! That post of yours seemed to fall in line with your previous posts in the level of authenticity and exactness you seemed to want your tribute band to present. And, after viewing that tribute band website, the "act" would fall right in line with what many fanatical tribute bands do.

But, I am now very relieved to know that you and your band won't be wearing those hideous (sorry, Robben!) shirts. You might, however, want to try a yellow suit, the kind that looks real sharp on RF... Very Happy

Spatzi,

I thought the shirt looked fine, but maybe your drummer and bass player should dress themselves.... Laughing

So, does your band have a name yet? Are you looking for any suggestions ?

Also, which of Robben's drummers and bass players does your band emulate in terms of playing style?

No, we haven't got a name yet. Anyone have suggestions? Happy to consider them. The bass player and drummer don't really emulate anyone from the Ford camp. The drummer didn't even know who Ford was until two weeks ago, but he's getting more and more into the Ford tunes the more we play them. The bass player also only recently discovered the wonder of Ford.
Last night, we jammed for the first time on 'Nothing to nobody'. Unfortunately, I forgot my MD recorder. It must have been 15 minutes on that one.

Cool Per roadwarriorfortheblues, "maybe your drummer and bass player should dress themselves." Oh my gosh. When I first looked at the photo I thought those were real amps and cabinets standing behind Spazi. Do you mean to tell me that those are the drummer and bass player cleverly dressed up to LOOK like a typical RF amp and cab set-up? Brilliant!

Actually, bringing our own Elizabeth Gage on board as the costuming consultant might be a great idea.

Spatzi,

Have you got any new recordings? I'd like to hear your Nothing to Nobody extended jam.

Try it again. I just put up a fresh link for 'busted up' that should be good for two weeks.

I never got the last one recorded. We're having more singer auditions next couple days. Hopefully we get to run through 'nothing to nobody' and 'Ain't got nothing but the blues' this time. I just bought some shure esm 200 IEM's, so I will now be able to hear myself perfectly over the drums. Can't wait. We saw two women vocalists on stage at a local blues club jam this weekend. Both were great, and both want to try out for our band. One of them actually turned out to be a major Ford fan, if you can believe it. Hopefully, I get some Ford jams up with vocals in the next couple weeks.
