"IMAGINE" ~ The Artwork of John Lennon was shown this weekend in Tampa as a fundraiser for The Spring (a non-profit org that exists to prevent domestic violence and protect victims of family abuse.)

For a $2 suggested donation, there were people from all walks of life & people of all ages, admiring the artwork, which was displayed in a vacant storefront (...one of many in Tampa).

The display included a few original drawings by John Lennon as well as limited edition prints of line drawings and handwritten song lyrics. Along the wall of framed song lyrics, notecards (liner notes) described what John might have been thinking/feeling at the time he wrote the lyric. His penmanship is hard to read, especially on: Nowhere Man, Yer Blues, Real Love (Waiting for You) and Day Tripper. This part of the display was very cool !

Lennon's animal drawings [Real Love series], were made for his son, Sean. These drawings are a lot of fun and show how Lennon loved to play with words. My favorite drawing from this series shows a happy frog sitting by a pond in the sunshine. The sun's reflection, in the pond, is heart-shaped and the drawing is titled, "a frog pondering." I live on a pond... and I ponder a lot, just like that frog.

Lennon's drawings speak, much like his music, about everyday life, love and communication. It's a great exhibit.
