I thought that would make you happy, Dave.
I am starting to look at the production for those dates even now. Probably a fly-in using local gear, which means Fireball 2 & Twins. We'll see. _________________ B C-ing U!

So wait, are we all flying in and camping in Kirk's living room for those two gigs? What a great pajama party we could have! I'll bring the s'mores.
Meanwhile, Coco Montoya Friday night, and Robben on December 11!

Elizabeth, by Friday do you mean JJ's? They're coming back to Moe's later in the month. I bring cotton balls to stuff in my ears to play at JJ's, hear Coco at Moe's or sit in front of Robben's Dumble at Yoshi's. When Coco or Wedemeyer are playing at JJ's it's ER-25 time. I can't even think of what Robben's amp would do in there. I wonder what it was like when Robben was at the Baked Potato recently. Loud amps in little clubs. At least you don't have to worry about reverberation _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

What is the other players aisle? I think Sweet Pea is back with Randy and the Boneshakers. He really makes it. The first time I saw them was at JJ's and they had just played at Shoreline. Imagine taking all this energy from an outdoor ampitheater into a 20 foot wide club like JJ's. They blew the roof off it. June (the owner) keeps telling me she calls Robben but the club's probably not big enough to make it worthwhile. A year ago or so, Robben did a clinic at the Guitar Center across the street and there was hope he'd come over afterwards. Local guys he'd played with were prepared to come out for a house rhythm section but it fizzled. At the clinic someone asked if he was going to go across the street and play a little and he got this sour look on his face, shook his head no and mumbled something about not really. I guess there were some expectations set up and he wasn't comfortable with the idea. After the clinic he was fine and chatted with folks he knew, and the subject never came up again. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

You're Da Man!
Can you reseve that front row (in front of the cab) position for me? |
Can you hear me now? Can you hear anything after doing that?
I learned this the hard way at Yoshi's sitting 10 feet in front of that thing. Now I like to go about 30 degrees to the right. The sound is smoother off axis and since Robben usually turns to the band, you can see him better. (Although the way he lays his fingers flat across the fingerboard, it's usually impossible to tell what he is playing. ) _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.
