Daved: Who does Robben use to do his guitar refinishing work and fret installation? Someone in the L.A. area? Thanks.

Toru Nittuno in Van Nuys did the refinishing and usually Robben has Jim Foot at Musicworks in the L.A. southbay do his fretwork, altho I think that this particular job was done by guitartech/luthier Sammy Sanchez this time around.

Any particular reason why Robben had the goldtop done in burgundy?
And does he know who will be in the band for the UK gigs in November?
Is he still using Tonkers in his cab's, or has he tried the new Tonker Lite model?

Veldt,
A) I don't know.
B) I doubt it this early.
c) He has not tried the Tonker Light commercial version, that I know of. He is back to his heavily Celestion phase for now. His brown cab is loaded with two G12-65's and his black cab has one G12-65 and one special made Tonker with a smaller magnet (pre-Tonker Light).

I'm thinking getting in shape. Put down the six string grab a super reverb with the left hand and a super in the right hand lift one lift two, if your just starting use a champ first.

You might want to look at the tom anderson Hollow T Classic. Ultra light. I have a bad back and I can play 3-4 sets without even having to sit down using the HTC. Besides being light and absolutely beautiful -- the tone of the guitar is unbeleivable. I currently have a HTC with:
Body Wood - Rosewood Top on Alder for HTC
Neck Wood - Rosewood, Rosewood Fretboard

I just ordered my second HTC.

Very nice. Out of curiosity, how much do those babies go for?

Off the rack --- depending on dealer - 2,700 plus. custom made (which mine is) with extra pickup and 100% rosewood neck -- around $3,100.

Rosewood neck adds about $300 to cost.

JingChiFan has a Chapin Tele type that was made for him in the color scheme of Bloomfield's/Robben's Teles. You'd have to ask Mike or Bill the actual weight but it is nothing like some of the heavy ash Teles I've played. But it has a solidness to the sound that is similar to the heavy ash bodies. While at the same time it has a livelyness and response that is better than any other Tele I've ever played. A truely magical instrument. I think there are some pictures of it on another thread. I would love to hear this thing in Robben's hands. Mike handed it to me at a jam night and plugged into my Fuchs, it was capable of much more than I could get out of it. The most responsive, present guitar I've ever played. Now if I could only justify three grand for a guitar, that would be at the top of my list.
