Bluenote, Are you sure it Zendriveatosis, I heard that latey that condition is very rare and Johnny Z may actually have Toneamosis a condition more prevaliant among six stringers.

Well, I'm feeling much better today. Thanks for all of the concern and diagnoses... Laughing

Brought the Zendrive to my guitar lesson right after work yesterday and let my teacher mess around with it. Without giving him any info or background about the pedal, after exploring it for a few minutes, he called it a really nice "tone" pedal. I thought it sounded awesome. What also impressed him was the evenness and consistency of the sweep of each knob. And, he felt it is well worth the 150 bucks.

Unfortunately, after my lesson, I couldn't get ahold of my friend who has been storing most of my gear during my very recent move, so I wasn't able to try out the Zendrive with my DrZ. But that'll happen soon enough, like this weekend! It'll be expensive fun though, as I'll have to send the wife off to the mall for a few hours while I play... Laughing

JZ - I will be curious how it sounds with the Dr Z. These amps are supposed to be major tone machines on their own, so I am wondering if you even need a pedal of any kind with it.

Well i'm happy to report that my zendrive arrived this week also. JZ, i guess our drives are kinda brothers and sisters, born of the same batch. I'll be putting it thru the paces this weekend with my '74 LP Deluxe(mini hummers) and a Super Reverb.

Well guys, just coming back from a gig where I was featured as a special guest with a befriended blues band and all I can say is: all you need is a Zendrive, no matter what amp you got. It's not more and not less the best pedal I ever had. Also works (very) fine with a harmonica BTW.

I just want to let all you know out there that I got my Zendrive yesterday. It was ordered December 8th. I hope this helps those still waiting to have an idea when they may see theirs. I haven't used it much yet but am looking forward to playing through it at length.

Dan, They may still have it there. Gelb in Redwood City had the nicest 54 Goldtop reissue with the P90s in it. No appologies for not having humbuckers. You asked about Robben's rig on a Mystic Mile recording. A lot of the things people think are humbucking guitars are Robben's real '54. When I picked up my Fuchs head there, the manager and I spent about a half an hour playing that axe though the Fuchs. It will definitely get you in that dynamic, open but thick territory.

The Zen and the 54 though a nice BF Fender will get you in the ballpark too. Contact Alf at ahermida@hermidaaudio.com and get on the list. He's a great guy to work with and is putting his heart into every box.

Dan,
Seems you are in the market for a new electric. First, i don't think mini hums are the same as P90's. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. I didn't have the same experience as you with the envy because of my ignorance. Tell you the story of my guitar. '73, in high school ,been playing a few years by now. I wound up taking lessons from Les Wise at a very small school in NO run by Roger Filiberto. Led Zep II blew me away when it came out and i have to have a cherry sunburst lespaul. Get a summer job and ask Mr. Filiberto," How can i get one of these guitars?" So he calls the gibson factory and orders one for me. Never a mention of Standard or Deluxe. The guitar comes in(a Deluxe) and i buy it in Sept of '74. Reinforcement comes later on in the '70's when i'm taking from Jimmy Robinson who plays the exact same guitar. Loving his sound( Woodenhead and Tawangorama infamay and still his main guitar) and i'm happy that man, i have a lespaul.
So to help you with a decision, i kinda grew into that guitar and made it work.It sounded crunchy enough to me. And since i play blues and jazz mostly it really worked for me. I would guess that if you are really after the huge arena rock sound you better go for the regular humbuckers. Someday i wouldn't mind having that setup also. But mines a keeper for a myriad of reasons.
Now since this is a Zendrive thread, can anyone confirm the correct adaptor to use with it. I thought i remember Alf's site saying that the Boss ACA -120 is cool but want to be sure. Can't find that info anywhere on the updated site.
