Hi Daved,
I just think it is great to hear that Robben is still using his Zendrive and Twin Reverb as the number two rig to his Dumble (Dr.Z thread!)
Any settings of Robben's Zendrive to share yet Daved?
Does Robben dial in difference settings at different venues, how he feels at the time, etc, etc? It's just my curiousity, nothing more!
Has Robben ever passed any comment on the Zendrive, i.e. particular attributes, things he really digs?
I found this link to another site forum, which begs the above questions too!

Hi DD !
been hanging around and reading posts here for some time and finally got around to registering.
Good to see some other people here in the UK - I'm in Leeds.
Ive been a big fan for several years now - and play myself in Pub/Party band. Weve dropped a lot of our blues from the set in the last two years but still do "Worried Life Blues " which I love.
Anyway, I've been thinking of buying a Zendrive for a while after Scott Lerner tipped me off about it through one of the amp-builders forums.
Just ordered mine with Alf yesterday - 16 week wait though , but worth it i think !!
Ive just finished building a 50W D-ODS clone ( I have seven DIY amps now ) and its simply the best amp I've ever played. ? Can I attached pics on ths forum ?
Its an ugly duck - used an ex-military chassis as a test build while I fine-tune the circuit with Scott's help.
Would be great to get some good UK players to try the amp out sometime.
Let me know if you get hold of the Zen settings ?
Any other UK guys/gals here ?
Cheers

Hi Pedro, and welcome to the board!
The decision to order the zendrive was the right one, just wait patiently and see
JFYI, check out he UK GuitarBuyer mag for the review of the Zendrive (in the next months issue I think!). It has impressed alot of people, and judging by all my posting on it, you probably noticed it impressed me as much as anyone!
I'm not a bad player by any means, but I can only recommend the board's member rsayer (Ron Sayer) as a prime candidate to try out one of your amps. Ron was the UK's "Guitarist of the year" a few years back, and easily one of the best guitarists I have had the pleasure of watching (and I have seen some of the very best!). He knows a thing or two about tone too. i don't know if he is willing, but he is one hell of a nice guy so good luck (sorry Ron if I have put you on the spot )
Don't forget to catch Robben in one of his UK gigs this year. I think I will travel to Nottingham in November to catch the man in action
Cheers,

DD,
I have just booked tickets for Sheffield - I cant believe it.
I've been talking with my fellow band guitarist about going out to the states in a few years to see Robben there because we didnt think he'd be touring the UK for the forseeable future.
I cant believe my luck - this is THE gig ive been waiting for - Robben is by far my favourite player.
I wonder if it will be at all possible to meet the man in person even for a short while ? Would love to get one of my guitars signed.
Daved - would also love to talk Dumbles/gear - and buy you a pint !
Anyone else here heading for the Sheffield gig ?
regards

ditto on the Ron Sayer recommendation. And, if you do meet him, please ask that he and his band tour the US, at least the northeast! |

Pedro, I am hoping to get to the Sheffield gig. I will be going to the manchester gig for definite as that is local to me, but Sheffield is just close enough to make the drive. Long way off yet though so I can't commit just yet. Sure there will be others from this board who are likely to be there also.

Guys,
I see Robben play at the end of the month, and I'll try to get a glimpse of how the Zendrive is set if it is in use. |

Pedro, I booked my tickets for the Sheffield gig a month ago!
Surprised Robben is not doing one in Leeds, which is closer to where I live.
I think a few years back, he played the Irish Centre there. |

My ears were burning so I checked out a few boards and here we are ! Yes, I got ticket no. 6 for Robben in Manchester, please will ticket holders 1 to 5 make themselves known....... Also going to Sheffield, but not got those tickets yet.
Pedro, I would love to hear or try your amp. I've always thought about building a clone but I end up buying them.
As for meeting and chatting with Robben and Daved, it could happen, it depends how busy they are and whats going down after the show etc. Last time at the Jazz Cafe, all the audience split immediately after the show to grab taxis and tubes home, I was left standing alone at the bar ready to order a drink when Dal Booth walks up and starts talking to me and offers to buy me one, then Daved and Robben showed up and we sat and chatted for about 20 minutes before their cab showed up to take them on somewhere else. Robben is just a regular guy, just a regular guy with irregular talent.
Does anyone know the line-up for the UK leg yet, Jimmy Earl? Roscoe? would love to know.
Cheers,
Rob. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

Rob,
thats cool,
I got tickets 20, 21 for sheffield. Might make it to Manchester if i can avoid being down in London on that date.
I will PM you this weekend about the amp build via the ampgarage forum pages.
..still tweaking my ODS build in a proto chassis before I build the finished version of the amp.

Hi
I'm down in Exeter. All of a sudden we're gettign these legends coming down - first Maceo Parker, then Joyce (a superstar of Bossa Nova) and now Robben!
I'm also a student of the guitar. Re: overdrives - I've had a lot of fun with my Reverend Drivetrain 2. Like a more transparent tubescreamer but clearer in the mids, more bass and more gain. I've heard good things about the T C Jauernig overdrives. I have one of his tremolo pedals, and it's great. |

PS - given the price and wait for a zendrive, can anyone suggest the next best thing? |
