Thanks. I didn't know he was using an RV-3. Does he use it just to split the signal to the two amps?

Hi Bill,
good to hear from you!
I think Robben has been using the RV-3 on and off for a number of years, mainly when he is touring with a simplified rig. I took photo's back in July 2002 at the Jazz Cafe in London, and it shows the RV-3 used this particular time in line with the wah and volume pedal (see the pics on the link from the Captain's site below!);

I guess at Tampa bay he is opting to use the RV-3 the more convential way by connecting it through the effects loop, as do I with my Boss DD-3. Daved will obviously correct me if I have misinformed.
Cheers,

Thanks a lot for the info and the link. That's probably something that I knew before, but seem to have forgotten. One of the pleasures of old age, you're not burdened with a lot of memories.
Thanks for the reminder.

In the 2002 Jazz Cafe photos, we were going thru a period of trying to find something more conveniently transportable than the FX rack with TC2290 when not using the full Dumble setup.
Robben already had the pedal, which we occasionally used as a splitter, so at the time the pictures were taken we were trying to use the RV-3 as an actual delay/reverb unit, thus the downstage inline pedal setup.
It never worked out to Robben's satisfaction, so we moved on to some other pedals (most notably a MoogerFooger, which lasted for a month or two till Robben decided he wasn't totally happy with any of the stompbox delays we had tried).
In the last year or two, with heavy use of the Zen pedal and 'smaller rigs', Robben has decided that in those situations he likes the use of two combo amps so we have brought the RV-3 back out on the road again primarily as a splitter. So, in these situations, to reduce cable signal loss I run a long purple Pacifix "Patch" cable from the downstage pedals, back to the RV-3, positioned at the amps themselves with short 3' jumper cables to the two amp inputs.
Robben does mess with it once in awhile in a 'wishful' effort to get it to delay in a way that he likes, but I don't think he ever quite gets there with it. So it remains primarily a splitter for sending the signal to two amps. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved,
I was wondering if Robben ever tried the echo park it does a decent tc2290 dynamic delay W/Mod sound, it is very portable and is very quiet, as long as you use the adapter or a pedal power 2 for power. It is Stereo.
I also thought you did a great job at the festival. I was going to say hi to you but you were really busy.
Thanks for all you do.

The TC Vintage Delay is really a fine pedal, to me the best of the delay pedals i tried so far, but Bill will mock I have no taste... |

Me? Not at all!
I have heard good things about that pedal but haven't been able to try one out myself. A friend of mine has the T-Rex Replica, which I think is the same pedal, and it does sound really good.

Thanx. It's entirely my pleasure. I do what I can.
Yes, I was very busy (three bandmembers and me... they play the music, I pretty much do everything else. ). Although I DO try to always have time for a wave and a smile whenever possible.
I did have a few minutes to visit with Alf and RoadWarrior and that was very enjoyable. (Thanx, Alf, for all you've done for Robben and Derek... thus, ultimately, me. I really appreciate your interest and help.
And, the Lovin' Cup Rockin' Horse is great, RW. He'll be puttin' on some miles along the tour trail. The Elektra sampler put quite a warm smile on Robben's face when I handed it to him at the airport the next morning. He asked that I be sure to thank you.)
Right now, Robben is happy with his sounds and setups. But, I will keep your (and Edpesco's) suggestion in mind for when Robben inevitably (like EVERY musician I've ever known or been) cycles around again to an experimenting phase. _________________ B C-ing U!

Great photos, RW. I particularly like the first one of Robben with the look like, either it's your turn to do something or it's time for a change up or to end the song... |

I know this is about the festival and all the pictures are great or maybe better than great, I wasn't there. I just wanted to give a shout out about Hillary. I've seen her twice with RF and the Gal can bang a gong as good as the rest if not better. She also seems to let Robin take all the glory while she just does what he needs. Way to go Hillary.
