Johnny Z, can i quote you on my website? i'm glad you dig the music.
thanks for your endorsment. Cool

Absolutely! As long as when you make it big, you remember me and get me comps in the front row! Very Happy

What I really like about your cds, besides your guitar playing (nice feeling), is the variety of the music.

Another year, another great tribute show on my local community radio station. This year's Roy Buchanan Tribute Show has been archived and can be listened to through next Tuesday (5/23/06), via streaming Internet at:

http://www.wmnf.org/includes/playarchive.php?ArchiveId=333&Type=FullShow

Be patient, the first 15 seconds are from the previous radio show...

The tribute features lots of great live concert tracks as well as an interesting Country track, and a radio advertisement promoting a show at a redneck country bar. Razz There's a cool jazz track too.

Enjoy!

RW, thanks for forwarding the WMNF tribute! I am digging it right now.

I loved those first two Roy Buchanan LP's. I listened to them a lot and played along with them as best I could attempting to emulate his ?take no prisoners? style. I saw Roy perform a couple of times; at San Francisco?s Winterland in '73 and at the Cabaret in San Jose in '85. The Winterland bill was the Elvin Bishop Group, Roy Buchanan and the James Cotton Blues Band. Roy was great. I?m sure he and his Telecaster blew a lot of minds that night.

The Cabaret was a show where I played in a warm-up band to Roy's headlining gig. I thought I might be able to talk with Roy to tell him what a great influence he was on my musical development. Well, combined with my nervousness and Roy?s standoffishness, we did not have a conversation. I didn?t see Roy talk to his own sidemen let alone some obsequious guitar player. But man, did he ever play! He came to that show with his Les Paul. The club had rented a Peavey 2 x 12? amp and he just plugged in, no effects, cranked the volume pedal to the metal and blew us all away.
