Gregg Allman & Friends '06 is starting to be juggled around.
I worked with Gregg at the BMI Awards / CSN Tribute Cermony in Beverly Hills last Tuesday night where he performed "Southern Cross" on his Gibson J200.
Both he and Robben have been starting to discuss the GA&F tour with me.
Robben tells me he's definitely up for it and scheduling is being gone over.
There are a couple of conflicts in Robben's scheduling, so reschedules and substitutions are still being worked out.
Gregg tells me Neil Larson is in and that bookings have started. He says he plans on doing three 3-week legs in the late summer/fall.
He wants to do a West Coast leg starting in southern call (San Diego, I believe) and going all the way up into Vancouver, BC.
He also wants to do the same thing on the east coast and the mid states.
Gregg told me who he thinks will be the rythym section, and it's pretty darn cool if it happens. I've also heard of other cool possibilities, but have heard no real confirmations in that department yet, so for now that info will have to stay under my hat.
I'll keep you posted as things develope. _________________ B C-ing U!

I don't know yet, Dave, BUT 3 weeks covers alot of ground on a west coast tour, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved, please ask Robben if he can swing by Detroit (or any place in southeast Michigan) this time. Last year, I had to drive all the way to Cleveland to see the GAF show (and it was well worth the trip)! Is Dal working on the dates? Perhaps I can send him an email as well. |

Sorry, Jack.
This is Gregg Allman's show, so he and his people do the bookings.
Robben and Dal have nothing to do with the tour routing. _________________ B C-ing U!

Do you think there is the remotest chance that GA&F would ever come to the UK / Europe, or would that not be cost effective?
Perhaps you could run it by Greig for a response?

I suppose there's always a 'remote' chance but, unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath right away.
My understanding is that ABB and GA&F, unlike Robben, rarely leave the States much these days.... buncha old settled down geezers who don't like to stray far from home much anymore. _________________ B C-ing U!

No problem. I'm glad Robben is doing the UK thing this year myself.
In fact, one of the schedule conflicts between RF and the GA&F tour revolves around Robben and I being in the UK when one leg of Gregg's tour begins.
Gregg and his camp are graciously trying to reschedule the first week of that leg to accommodate Robben and I.

Daved, Oh well, thanks anyway. Hopefully Gregg's folks will see fit to have GAF swing through Michigan. The Allman Bros. usually do quite well here--we'll have to see how it goes. |

I just got off the phone with Gregg's personal manager.
He tells me everything and everybody is pretty well locked in (other than the LC/RF conflict mentioned above which is still being worked out) for the GA&F '06 tour.
The band looks like it will be:
Gregg Allman (of course)
Robben Ford (guitars & vocals)
Neil Larson (keys)
Floyd Miles (percussion & vocals)
Jay Collins (sax)
Bernard Perdie (drums)
Jerry Jermmott (bass)
Appears to me to be a line-up you won't want to miss. _________________ B C-ing U!

Michael (Gregg's manager) has also just e-mailled me the first tentative routing schedule.
Sorry, Jack, but at this point there is no Detroit... BUT, I see there are still 7 or 8 dates to be filled in at the beginning of January around shows in the Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Illinois areas, so since it is in the "same" part of the country as Michigan, there is still hope.
The tour begins with an east coast run in mid October in Binghamton, NY, and proceeds thru dates from Maine to Florida.
Second leg is a west coast run which starts in Phoenix in mid November and goes thru San Diego up to Spokane, Washington, ending up back in Anaheim at the House Of Blues. (Sorry, Captain, but the closest I see to Boulder, at this point, is Salt Lake and Boise. However, I see ABB is playing Red Rocks again this summer. Let me know if you'd like to attend and I'll set you up. )
Third, and final, leg is a mid-east run starting near the end of December in Jim Thorpe, PA and going thru the middle of January, ending up in Chicago at the House Of Blues.
PLEASE NOTE: This is the first scheduling I have received for a tour that is still 6 months away. Things are still subject to change and this is meant only as a "heads-up" for all of you. _________________ B C-ing U!

Perhaps there'll be a stop in the Boston area?! |
