Sloweslili, just to spell the name Gary Moore is insane. You just hitted the wrong place.
Ohhhhhh yes he owns a Famous Les Paul from Peter Green , so what ...
For my personnel taste he doesnt blues that great, just wanking wildly with pentatonics. Speak no sense about Albert King.... Been too long exponed to Thin Lizzy riffs. ............................................................blablabla......................................................................and .....................whoof whoof.................................suck bigtime............................................................................................. |

I took a chance on Gary Moore's latest cd recently, "Old New Ballads Blues" and I really dug the 1st 6 tunes, then it fell flat. I like his energy and the sound of his strat with tons of reverb. For 11 bucks and change, I'm ok with just the 6 tunes... |

Whew. For a moment I thought you guys were talking about THIS Gary Moore: http://www.answers.com/topic/garry-moore
Blobbie: Getting ready for the World Cup? My wife and I plan to paint our faces with various national colors, cool off lots of European beer, turn on ESPN, and act like hooligans here in the house. Should be fun.
Ron S: No wonder we haven't heard much from you of late. You've been a busy boy. Hope the gig at The Shed went well (e.g., that they'll invite you back). By the way, I like the thing on your web site about "3 full hours of entertainment can be provided by the band and set lists can be negogiated [negogiated? sounds like fun] prior to the performance. A P.A system and lights are provided and background music [maybe our substantial Celine Dion collection] can be played in the intervals." OK ... but how much is it going to cost us to fly all of you over here? Maybe some day I'll win the California Lottery, and partying with the Ron Sayer Band right here in my own home will be the first thing we do with the dough. That is, after my wife and I clean up the mess from our playing football hooligans while watching the World Cup on TV. _________________ - BlueRunner |

I didn't realize that it's World Cup time again until I read today's paper previewing the teams, etc. But, I was disappointed not to find a Hungarian team listed on the roster. And, now that I think of it, I don't remember even seeing any Eastern European teams. What's up with that? Anyway, drinking fine Pilsners and Lagers and acting like a hooligan in the safe confines of my home sounds like a fine idea.
And, BlueRunner, my thoughts exactly about what to do with some of my lottery winnings- the Ron Sayer Band is definitely on my list. But, a RSB gig would have to be on a night that Robben isn't playing on that same night somewhere in this universe. Sorry Ron!

I Think if I won the Lotto, I would have to hire the RFB as a first choice for a big RF forum party!!! Then we could jet over to theUK toparty with RSB.... Dream on freinds.

I have suggested it here before (only semi serious) - to go in as a group on lottery tix and if we win have a big RF party and fly everyone in. What we have left over could be divided up and spent on gear (and token gestures of affection for our significant others).
World Cup - the Czech Republic is in - is this Eastern Europe enough for you JZ?
My pick - I'm going with my homies the Swedes. But I will be drinking Pilsner or Bitberger. |

Oh yeah, I missed finding the Czechs in the lineup. Still wondering why my Hungarian heritage kinfolk didn't have a team. I guess I'll have to wait for the next summer Olympics to root for them in water polo... |

Spare a thought for me, lads, in all this World Cup 'hysteria'. Japan & Australia play each other in their first game. The wife is still baffled as to why I'll be rooting for the Aussies. Things may be frosty around the house for a while...unless it's a draw! |

"set lists can be negogiated [negogiated? sounds like fun] prior to the performance"
Bluerunner: Clearly you americans haven't heard of the word 'negogiated', look it up on Dictionary.com
ne·go·gi·ate ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-go-gee-
v. ne·go·gi·at·ed, ne·go·gi·at·ing, ne·go·gi·ates
v. intr.
To confer with another or others in order to come to terms or reach an agreement and then to completely ignore said agreement during a consequent performance: “It is difficult to negogiate where no-one will trust the band” (Samuel Johnson).
v. tr.
To arrange or settle by discussion and mutual agreement then totally ignore agreement and play 'Mustang Sally' or 'Is This The Way To Amarillo?': negogiate a contract (then subsequently break it).
To transfer title to or ownership of (a promissory note, for example) to another party by delivery or by delivery and endorsement in return for value received whilst crossing fingers behind one's back
.
To sell or discount dodgy rolex lookalike wristwatches (assets or securities, for example).
To fail in going over or coping with: negogiate a sharp curve (then careen off the road because of a little bunny rabbit).
To fail (miserably) in accomplishing or managing: negogiate a difficult musical passage (then flub a G chord).
Feeling pretty embarassed now aren't you BR?

Anybody catch the Holland - Serbia Montenegro match this afternoon? Great game. Robben scored Holland's winning goal - a fantastic solo effort beating two defenders and then firing past the goalkeeper. No sign of Daved on the touchline however, and not a Dumble, Twin or Zendrive in sight. Mind you, after what what Daved was saying about the cost of shipping gear to Europe, I'm not at all surprised. It shows that a true professional can still perform at his best unplugged. _________________ "Creativeness often consists of merely turning up what is already there. Nine - this is too funny! I had the same thought when I saw his name on the back of his jersey.
Uncle Salty - hope you can manage the frosty wife right about now. Great finish! I may have to go have a Fosters, or 3, for lunch in support! |
