I still can't believe what I saw at Villa Montalvo last night: Robben and Larry on the same stage together! It was nothing short of phenomenal! Larry and Robben will be touring Japan and recording a CD from the eight shows. After all these years of living in the bay area, I never had the opportunity to see the Tommy Castro Band. Now that I know what I've missed, I'll have to see them again. Larry's son, Travis, was an awesome bass player! What a gift for Larry and all of us for Father's Day! And Robben looked great in his sparkly jacket. The only complaint I have is that his beautiful long hair covered his face and I couldn't see him grinning from ear to ear most of the time. You can tell he was ecstatic to be up there with his mentor. This just may have been the best concert I've ever been to! There were several well-known musicians in the audience, too, like Rene Solis and Tony Lindsay's bass player.

To top off this perfect night under the stars, I met someone on the West Valley College shuttle bus that saw Robben 30 years ago at the Fifth Quarter in Cupertino, a bar I used to sneak into when I was underaged just to see Robben and Mark Ford and Gary Smith, blues harpist.

I hope many of you were there last night, too. I'd love to hear your comments.
