Well I just booked a flight to go to New York on the 17th to go see Robben play with Larry Carlton. In the 25 years I have TOTALLY been into both of these guys, I have NEVER heard of them playing together--It's going to be FANTASTIC.

A question for Daved: do you know what type of rig Robben will be using for that show? I was really hoping Robben uses his full Dumble (w/ TC2290) rig. I'm sure Larry will be using his Dumble(s). To see both of these masters with Dumbles-a-blazin' will be something to experience!

Let us know!

There is a recent post as to what people wanted Robben's next commercial release to be. Why the hell hasn't this collaboration been presented as a live CD/DVD release Question Confused

I agree with you JackD, it will be fantastic! You are one lucky guy!

Cheers,

DD

Yes, it would also be great to find out if anyone knows (including Daved) the format of the show. Is Robben going to play with his own band first, then Larry with his band, and then they do some playing together (kind of like the format with John Mayall) OR are the two of them going to do the whole show together? Either way is cool, but I guess I'd like to see the both of them up there for as much as possible. Given that ther are 2 shows that night, my hope is that it is Robben and Larry doing their thing, side by side the entire show!

It's billed as the Larry Carlton Band with Robben Ford so I'd assume they'll be up there together all night. Hopefully they'll do it in Japan sometime...

Hit the road Jack Exclamation

There's also a great Blues show in New York City on Wednesday, March 15th -- "Legends of Blues" concert, at NYC's elegant Town Hall, featuring an unsurpassed lineup of blues icons and rock musicians. 92-year-old Grammy Award-winning Muddy Waters Band pianist "Pinetop" Perkins, Paul Butterfield Blues Band guitarist Elvin Bishop, Chicago blues harp master Carey Bell, Derek Trucks Band drummer Yonrico Scott, and special guests will bring classic Chicago Blues to the Big Apple for this one time special performance. Saw them here in Northern California 2-3 weeks ago. It was Larry Carlton's band and Robben was sitting in. Jeff Babko-keys, Travis Carlton-bass, Tos Panos-drums. Larry had his Dumble rig, Robben had two Twins and a Zendrive and was using the Les Paul Larry gave him.
