Sorry, Rob. I don't know who Robben will be using yet, that far down the road.
Actually this is another instance of the fans knowing more than I do this early in the game.... I haven't yet heard anything about a Coachhouse gig in August...
Once I do, I'll try to let you all know the particulars. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved,
Will Robben be playing at this gig?
http://villamontalvo.com/eventdetails.asp?i=414
From the montalvo website, "Along his side will be legendary bluesman Robben Ford. Rocking blues guitarist Tommy Castro opens the show."
I got my tix. I hope it's true...

I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe he will be.
With the LC projects he's been doing so far this year, it's mostly been a 'LC organization with special guest RF' kinda thing so I haven't really been involved other than to send Robben on his way with guitar and amp. Larry's people have been taking care of Robben on the road. (Which probably means I won't be going to Japan later in the year... dammit! But that's still a ways off, so we'll just have to wait and see.)
However, I do know that when Robben and I were going over upcoming schedules, we discussed that I was basically flying from the last NW show, in Portland, to Cincinnati to start the first leg of the Allman Brothers Band summer tour.
And Robben mentioned something about a Larry Carlton gig he was doing that same weekend, which coinsides with the dates mentioned on that website.
(UPDATE: Just as was about to hit the 'post' button, Robben called to go over the gear for next week's shows. I asked him about VillaMontalvo.
Yes, he says, he will be there.... so there ya go! ) _________________ B C-ing U!

Heading into L.A. shortly to pick up band gear and then heading north towards Seattle. Hope to be in Portland tomorrow night so I can spend some time visiting with friends before continuing onto Seattle day of show.
UPDATE: The band personnel will now be:
Mike Landau/guitar, Gary Novak/drums, and Chris Chaney/bass. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved,
Sorry to hear that you may not be with Robben for the shows in September here in Japan. They are scheduled for 4 nights at the Blue Note in Tokyo, 2 shows a night, and I was planning to attend all 8 shows. But part of the reason for that is that I was hoping to get to spend a little time talking with you again. I'll be disappointed if you don't make it. I hope the situation changes.

Hey Daved,
Can you let us know if Hilary will be playing drums on any of the upcoming gigs?! |

Bill,
No, I definitely will not be on the Japan run, unfotunately. I always enjoy the BlueNote/MotionBlue shows and venues, so it is a dissapointment for me.
I've been getting Robben's carnet info together for Larry's people as they will be taking care of Robben over there.
Hopefully Robben will return for his own shows next year and I can make it then.
RobbenLvr,
I will also miss doing the next couple of shows (Farmingville, NY on the 20th and Park City, Utah on the 27th) as my understanding is that Hil will be playing on those shows along with Andrew Ford on bass... a combination I'd like to see. _________________ B C-ing U!
