Okay, now that you've heard the worst, let's hear something better. These are all live takes.
The first version of 'Rugged road' here was sung by the drummer. I like this version for the energy and especially the drum work during the solos. It's really cooking. I think it's also about twice as fast as it should be! I played with those guys a few years ago, but they got busy with other pursuits.
The second version is from a few months ago. First take for the drummer and singer. What do you guys think of this vocal? Does the vocal remind you of someone? I showed this to someone and had to laugh when he told me who it reminded him of. This was a first take audition for a drummer. It's not very good instrumentally, (mediocre bass player is on the last two versions here) but I am currently working with this vocalist.
The third version is just an instrumental, but I really like the sound/tone of it. Just shows you how a different room can affect the quality.
I would like to take the drumming from the first version, add the vocals from the second version, the sound of the third version, add bass from the guy I'm currently trying out, and that would be my ultimate take! Maybe one day I'll get it!
Here's a permanent link for those files. I was getting tired of them always expiring. I will use this to put up more samples and auditions as I get them. Would appreciate any feedback. Should have some new RF with a new drummer, bass player, by next weekend!
