Ooooh, bummer. You could have had the real thing for only $16,200!!

This is the first Dumble I've seen on ebay.

ahah yeah, i seen that as well... except it was yesterday and it was at like 8,500 .. but anyway its not that i want a dumble or a two-rock or fuchs or a dumble clone at all, i just want something that WILL bring out all my mistakes and something thats got alot of attack and note definition.

That's not even the right Dumble. The one Carlton and Ford use is the newer model, and i'm sure he sits there and tweaks their amps for them to get their tone. My Opal has trim pots in it, so finally I got in there and tweaked it to sound the way I wanted it to. Stock, the pots were flat, and I changed it pretty radically from what they were set at on certain frequencies.

Of all the amps I've tried, the Fuchs comes closest (to my ears). I love the 2 rock as well. I could play either one all day long. But the Fuchs seems to capture that Robben sound, assuming that's what you're going for. Scott Lerner has a ton of clips on his website that are very "Robben-esque" playing through the Fuchs. www.scottlernermusic.com

no not really what im looking for at all, well yes and no.. i want something that sounds like a dumble but only in the fact that its SUPER CLEAN and it makes my lead and rhythem playing sound like crap where every mistake will come out like a sore thumb.I want something with that fender sparkle but much more touch sensitive like i said previously..

i love robbens lead tone but i can get that in most od pedals and bridge pickups.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but my lead and rhythm playing sounds like crap on ANY amp I try. My search is over!

There is a great amp being made now called the Glaswerks Super Overdrive. Takes it's inspiration from Dumble. Gives you the option at the flip of a few switches to go from 70's to 80's to 90's circuit topologies.

Do a search over on The Gear Page and you'll uncover a wealth of info on them. Also compared to the competition for that market they are a real bargain and tonewise second to none.

Sweet emotions16

Go to the The amp garage forum and look into the schematics there.

I would recommend building yourself because the reality is that Robben would be using a variety of amps tweeked in certains ways to produce certain tones. e.g. circuits and speakers and so on.

The reality is that Robben tone is a culmination of many years of experimenting and investing in knowledge and equipment to produce certain results that give him his unique signature.

The journey is more important than the destination!

There would be no amp that would do it all anyway!

Enjoy your trip.

Regards

thanks everyone for the tips i just wanted to say that the conclusion i've drawn is that i need several amps but im very happy with my super reverb right now.. maybe a fuchs and a two rock down the road would be nice.. but the main thing is that the super reverb sounds like me.

That's the best conclussion so far! It seems that no amp in the world will sound like Robben's Dumble unless you cal play like him.
