Lowering the key is going to make the thing sound fuller and deeper. Donald Fagen did the same thing with some of the Steely Dan tunes he did on one of the tours a couple of years ago. I don't know if Robben was tired or not, or Fagen either, but this is one of the reasons you usually lower the key. I sing "Talk To Your Daughter' in my band, and I know it would be easier if I sung it in F, but it just wouldn't be the same for me.

you sing it higher than G??!
I also agree with the comment made earlier about where his vocals sound great, but i dont think its because of the lower key, really people theres not a whole lot of difference between G and F for a vocalist like Robben, considering that it is a different climate, and the fact that his voice may of been slightly tired, so probably a good decision. _________________ www.myspace.com/gregory49

I sing it in G. Sorry. And I beg to differ. A whole step is a big difference, even for a professional vocalist. And sometimes the change of key affects the emotional feeling of the song, so it's always a judgement call for me.
the reason i said it wasn't a big difference is because i found it almost just as high in the key of F, or even not that different in the key of A.. now Bb was much much harder... _________________ www.myspace.com/gregory49
