I just got off the phone with Robben, going over the gear he'll need in the studio this week.

There will be, of course, the Dumble rig and his Fender Super Reverb along with a healthy stack of assorted acoustic and electric guitars.

He's also asked me to leave my Vox AC30 and my Rickenbaker 360/12 with him for possible use on overdubs in January.

While in England Robben one day asked me if I could put him in contact with Susan Tedeschi about using her for vocals on his CD. I passed along her and Derek's home #. Robben mentioned today that he reached and talked with both Derek and Susan just the other day. Derek had just returned from Japan (with Clapton).

Robben says their conversation was very positive and it looks like Susan may be now guesting with vocal backup on his CD.

In conversation, Robben also mentioned that the RF/LC "Live In Japan" CD will be coming out very soon and that the Live DVD will come out sometime after that.
He tells me that the DVD will include footage from both the Japan shows and the Paris shows.

Great news! Very Happy

I can't believe it's been six months since Robben & Larry performed at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. Can't wait to hear it. And a new studio recording in the offing.

Happy Holidays all!

After re-reading the Amazon.com ad, I realized that it's a cd, not a dvd, that's available after Christmas. For $28+, that's pretty steep for cd. And, assuming it's a double-disc (?), that still seems a bit high.

The dvd at the HMV-Japan store is only $21.34 (at today's exchange rate)...

Nevertheless, money is of little object when it comes to our man... Wink

Whole bunch of great news there!

And Susan Tedeschi -- that would be very cool. Love her voice.

That's great news. It's quite cool that the wait between the actual concert and the CD is so short.

So Robben uses the twins as a sub amp rig for the overdrive special rig, why does he use the super reverb in the studio and not the twins?....
what is it about each amp that he is drawn to...?

if Daved would have the time to answer this question it would be amazing, but if anyone knows anything, post ... please.

Daved:

It's really great to hear that Robben is looking to work with Susan Tedeschi. She is one of my favorite singers. I'm really looking forward to hearing her with Robben--it will be a fantastic combination!

How about Derek and Robben? It would be great to hear two such dynamic forces together. I'll just cross my fingers and hope that Derek is figured into the mix when Robben consults with Susan. Thanks again Daved for the great information - it's a great gold mine for a fan.
