Just checked the tour dates here - they have been updated. Robben also has dates in Houston and Dallas next month. Then back to the west coast with the Ford Bros Band. |

Holy cow, I just realized I'm going to be in San Antonio the weekend of Feb 2nd/3rd. Hmm, that's not far at all from Austin, is it?
Don't know if I can work that side trip in, but I'm gonna try.
Here's the updated tour schedule for those who hadn't found it yet:

I just heard there's a possibility of a second show in Oregon this time around, in case anyone else on this thread is living here in the rain besides me. Hope it can be worked out - excellent small venue, great sound, fun people ... it would be a great time! Dal, Robben, whoever is working on this, we'd love to see you fit in another show on the Left coast schedule. |

From stuff posted elsewhere, it sounds like there are plans for heavy touring behind the new album Robben is working. I suspect we'll see a lot more dates down the road. |

I just called the Lakewood Theater in Dallas and was told that Robben was NOT going to be doing the Feb. 9. show. They said Robben had decided not to do any shows in Texas. So I called the Cactus Cafe in Austin and they said as far as they knew the shows there were still on, but no ticket sales in advance of the show.
Anybody know what is going on? |

Tickets for the show at the Cactus Cafe went on sale Sat. noon. I picked up tickets for both nights today. So i don't know what to think except that i have them in hand. I did notice the ad in the Chronicle calling the show 'Robben Ford and His Band'. So as been reported the co-bill with Stephen Bruton fell thru. I'm just hoping that maybe he'll do the Austin dates as Roscoe and Brannen( if he's the drummer) both live here and that's gotta be convenient. I'll be keeping an ear for any news.

The OKC Feb 7 date is confirmed and "advanced" by Robben's management, according to the promoter I contacted because of being a great Robben fan. All contracts are signed--tickets are selling "briskly" and should sell out. This is my second Robben concert, after seeing him with Eric Johnson at the 2005 Santa Fe Jazz Festival (bought the first 4 tickets). I attended his Ojai class in 2004, where he was very inspirational and generous. |

Ok, here's the scoop. Just back from Robben's show at the Cactus Cafe. Yes the rhythm section was Roscoe and Brannen. Yes it was electric. In fact he was using not one but two Super Reverbs. Hard to say if they were daisey chained or one was a spare. Alternated between the red ES-335 and the white Tele as far as guitars.
Set List
When i Leave Here
Indianola
The Way You Treated Me
Strong Will to Survive
Don't Let Me be Misunderstood
Cannonball Shuffle
Get Out my Life Woman
Over my Head
Prison of Love
Freedom
Help the Poor
The Miller's Son
Hey, Brother
Lovin' Cup
Tired of Talking - encore
What else can i say, but to witness Robben stretch out in a trio setting with a hip, happenning, incredibly suppportive bassist and drummer is a sight to behold. It was smiles all around and let's go for it. To watch him fill it up with his chordal work is a whole nother lesson. Quite a few jazzy excursions. And he really seemed to dig deep and uncorked some jar dropping solos. Noticed he would palm the pick alot for both chords and single lines. Just part of his tonal arsenal. So all in all a smoking set esp as this is their first gig of this mini tour. Can't wait to see what Sat. night 's show brings.

Nice review Blue...thanks for the update. Since the Dallas show was cancelled, I bought tickets to the Oklahoma City show on Weds. Can't wait to see Robben with Roscoe and Brannen. Have fun tonight for round 2. |
