Cherylann,
It's been awhile since this subject has come up and I am aure there are lots of new members from your neck of the woods, so let me refresh a sad fiscal fact of musical life...
Tho the RF fans in the southern states are loyal and diehard, they are apparently few and far between as Robben does not generally sell well in the south so, other than Florida and New Mexico every once in a blue moon, promoters in the south do not often invite him to play down there.
He does occasionally get down that way but not on a regular basis and usually it is when he is performing with someone else... rarely in the context of his own show. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved,
I hate to admit that you are right. I am sharing Robben with everyone I can think of, but I can't get my local (independent) radio station to play his stuff. I have called and emailed so much that the program manager finally suggested that I find another station to listen to! I have also emailed several local venues asking them to book Robben, along with people like Sean Costello and Debbie Davies, but no luck so far.

Cherylann,
Don't feel too bad. Robben only makes it to the Midwest (Michigan) every few years or so. The last time was 2004. As a result, since then I have had to do the following to see Robben live:
Fly to LA (Ojai clinic in 2004)
Drive to Cleveland (Gregg Allman & Friends in 2005)
Fly to New York (Robben & Larry Carlton in March 2006)
Fly to Seattle (clinic recorded for DVD in August 2006)
One must do what one must do! |
