While waiting for Robben and Larry to visit Holland, maybe this can help kill the time:
A Dutch guitarplayer called Peter Tiehuis playing this great Steely Dan tune;

What great vocals.........and a very good guitarist. I agree.....very infectious. You might want to check out the other two videos as well.....Deborah Carter sings her ass off on "Between The Raindrops!" It just goes to show that there's wonderful music being played all over the globe!

I'm going to be in San Diego next weekend and am thinking about going to the Earth Day show at the Bellyup Tavern (Tommy Castro, Charlie Musselwhite, Nena Anderson) on Sunday 22nd. Are you going?
Any other recommendations for music in San Diego April 20-22?

Can't wait to get some sunshine Cool

JavaDiva:

Though I'm a Tommy Castro & Charlie Musslewhite fan, I won't be going to the show at the Belly Up. If you haven't been there before, its a pretty good place to see a band...particularly, if you can get one of the seats "upstairs"....a loft with individual tables and booths. It overlooks the stage and is usually where I sit when I've been there. Actually, the very last time I was there was to see Robben when he was supporting the release of Tiger Walk......so it's been 4-5 years. However, I'm sure it's still the same seating arrangement.
I checked the local listings for additional music while you're in town, but the only group that's playing while you're here is Huey Lewis & The News at the Pala Casino Spa Resort on 4/20. The Pala Resort is in the North County of San Diego......a bit of a drive from Solana Beach or San Diego.
If you're interested in a nice little Italian restaurant nearby Solana Beach.....Trattoria I Trulli in Encinitas......the very next town north of SB.....a very good, relatively inexpensive and enjoyable place. Here's the address: 830 S. Coast Hwy. 101., Encinitas, CA 92024.....760-943-6800. It's on the west side of the street about 2 blocks after entering Encinitas from Solana Beach.
Feel free to call if I can be of any further help......I sent you a PM with my telephone number.

Isn't Sweden a province of Holland? Compared to the ammount these tourists drink in Austria they seem to have the same cultural background....

Ed, that's because of the good quality of your beer! And Holland is a beer drinking Nation. The swedish drink a lot of beer everywhere because it is cheaper everywhere!

I happen to be in London right now, and as an American, I must say we don't take beer drinking seriously enough. These folks in Europe really understand the importance of regular consumption of good beer.

PostPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2007 5:42 am    Post subject: more European Bluesmen Reply with quote

Two other European Bluesmen that I enjoy are Dutchman Hans Theessink and Norwegian Vidar Busk.

I just recently starting hearing music by Theessink. His band is supposedly from Austria. Great vocals and beautiful music. I need to get his new CD.

Vidar Busk visits Tampa frequently and he is also a wonderful guitarist. I believe Vidar toured with the late Rock Bottom. I have some nice pictures of Vidar playing with Lucky Peterson last time he came to town. I'll try to find them. I think Vidar recently spent some time in No. California as well, so maybe some of the West Coast forum members saw or met him recently.

My favorite European beer is Hoegaarden (with an orange slice)... it's the ice tea of beers Very Happy
