Hi to everybody!
I'm a new entry and in my first post my I forgot introducing myself.
Now I "try to do the right thing"
My name's Rudy, 44 years old, married with Valeria, with two children (Francesca and Andrea).
I'm architect and I love both photography and music.
I play guitar since I was 13; I started with neil young tunes, with my 12-strings guitar and my harmonica and now I play my les paul standard, my Am strat and my last good buy, a G&L ASAT.
Never studied english in the "usual" way, so I beg you pardon for my mistakes.
I'd like to share with you my memories of Robben's gigs.
I saw the very first time Robben on TV (for Italian readers: it was a Renzo Arbore's show) and I was pleasently surprised.... what a guitarist! It was love at first sight
My first gig was with my wife pregnant, 14 years ago: I could say that Robben ...... talked to my daughter.
The second one was the night before an operation; the nurse called me saying that I had to stayed in the hospital the night, but I said I could't because I had a very important business dinner....
Another one (the fourth I guess...) is the one I remember with more emotion.
It was the supernatural tour, and Robben played in a little town nearby Milan (mosquito town, I guess).
Robben started to play, but he had the time to play only a few tunes, because it started to rain very hard. We were outside and everybody ran away.
Me and a few guys wait under a porch, hoping .......
The rain stopped after about an hour; I remember Daved (I'm not sure about that) drying the wet stage, checking with a tester....
and Robben started to play again: there was no bass player, only keyboard and drums.
The sky was still cloudy and windy and when Robben started to play "hey brother" it started to rain again; at first it was a gentle rain and I remember the raindrops bouncing on the drums, lighted from the back.
It seemed that Robben was playing only for me, and the same sensation had every guy left ( we were 30/40 persons).
Robben played bent, to protect his telecaster from the pouring rain...... then he had to stop again (too much rain), he said goodbye and the show ended.
what a night.......

Rude,
Yes, I remember that show in Italy. In fact, by coincidence, Robben and I were just recently talking about that very same show, in Paris with a couple of our friends.
It was during my first Euro tour with Robben. Hilary Jones played drums, Jeff Babco played keys and had to double on keybass as, thru a series of unexpected incidents, we had a week without a bass player between the departure of Myron Dove to another commitment and the delayed arrival of Roscoe Beck.
Because of the on-again-off-again rain, I had to keep pulling the plug on the show and sending the band to safety in a building nearby while I tried to protect the gear sitting unprotected in the weather. _________________ B C-ing U!

Hi Daved!
Did you and Robben really talked of that show?
Everyone at this show had a kind of mixed feeling: angry with the organization (why didn't they protected the stage from the rain? ) and happy because Robben played only for us
I perfectly remember your work: you did a great job, thank you!
I hope you'll like this pic.

Yours, Lefty
thank you Lefty!.
As I said before, I've got some other pics.
I have only to scanner them in the right way; I'll do it as soon as possible.
Thanks for congratulations!
Ciao
Rudy
