Whoa!!! dancing madly backwards down memory lane!!!! the good old days, I used to see Capt.Beyond every time they came to town. They used to play in a very old movie theatre called the Parthenon. The accoustics were awsome because it was built back when they put some thought into that stuff, and there was a stage built out in front of the movie screen. Capt.Beyond played there and had weird psycodelic stuff floating around on the screen long before I ever saw Pink Floyd do it.No wonder I'm so screwed up today! but what really stood out for me was BC's drumming, he was very good. I learned the whole first side of Dancing madly....cool stuff. Thanks for making my day!

BC does a lot of great stuff on the Captain Beyond album, but probably my favorite moment is on the song Mesmerization Eclipse where Rhino begins the song with the straight ahead driving hook guitar riff and then Bobby comes in power slamming the back beat. Whoaaa.... spins my head around everytime! _________________ B C-ing U!

Wow...what a trip down memory lane. I had the original 3-D Captain Beyond album and also, Johnny Winter And, Live. I hadn't thought about those in years. Somewhere around 1973, near Charlotte, NC, I went to an all-day outdoor concert that included...
Doobie Brothers
Spooky Tooth
Captain Beyond
J. Geils Band
We were doing something having to do with Little Small Dots so I don't remember too much about the concert.
Thanks for the memory jog! _________________ Ken |

Great post, Ken!
Doobies- One of my all-time fav's (pre-Michael McDonald). Captain & Me is an all-time best. Toulouse(sp) Street up there too...
Spooky Tooth- Spooky Two is a must. Vinyl worn out, need cd. Thanks for the reminder...
Captain Beyond- Thanks to Daved(tm), cd is in rotation. Live must've been outrageous...
J. Geils Band- great rockers, minus Centerfold...
Little Small Dots- Haha, never heard it put that way. No other comment... _________________ Soul on Eleven |
