Daved any word on August 11th in Grass Valley, Center For The Arts. Looks like Robben might be in the states then. Will he be at that show? This is really a great place to see all these guys. Maybe a 300 seat venue and Robben is always so gracious to come out after the show and sign autographs and such, if hes not worn out. Last show here was stellar.

Sorry, don't know.
Haven't heard much from Robben lately and was just informed yesterday by Dal, his manager, that after repeated assurances that Robben was glad I was going to be there with him, Robben has now changed his mind and decided he wants to take a different tech to Europe with him in October/November, so it looks like he has decided to phase me out.
Looks like the "Daved Zone" will eventually get a new name. Wink
Oh well. it was an enjoyable 8+ year run with him.
Life goes on....

What!!!? Shocked

This place will not be the same without your highly informative, and charismatic posts. Surely this is just a temporary decision by Robben?

I hope you will stick around either way.

All the best,

DD

I hope you're mistaken, Daved. It has been a pleasure learning from you and reading about your experiences. Like DD said, I hope it's just temporary and I hope you stick around.
Good luck,
Frank

Amen to that!!! You are a huge part of this forum and I'm sure a huge part of any successful Robben show. Your insider points of view have allowed us to feel like family.
And the tech info. Scheduling info. General music info. Not to mention the great stories. And who else can say they dated the Cool Hand Luke car wash girl??

Say it ain't so, Robben!!

Good luck to you.

Really made me angry to hear that Daved. Evil or Very Mad
It was great to meet you in UK and I hope to see you many more times again. I’m lucky you are my “friend” on my space anyway.
Be cool ma man.

Daved,

Sorry to hear that.

I *really* hope you'll stick around and continue to contribute regardless of whether you continue to work with Robben, as the value you've brought to this forum go way beyond Robben-related topics.

I'd love to continue hearing about your work with other artists, your expert guitar-tech advice, your thoughts on music in general, and so on.

What?! You must be kidding!

Daved, that can't be true. I mean, 8+ years - that makes you his common law Tech.

Surely there's some other explanation for this and it's a temporary thing. You've got your own section on this board for heaven's sake. No, I refuse to accept it.

Jim

If this does eventually become a permanent split - how about setting up your own website? I'm sure we'd all be regular visitors. Hmm, on second thoughts, in view of a certain person's track record on updating websites, perhaps that's not a realistic suggestion Laughing

Hi Daved,

Yes, life goes on, and new opportunities will blossom for you!

Although I don't care much about the techie stuff (gear), it's been fun reading your posts and watching you work the shows. I think we all appreciate your contribution to this forum and we hope you don't leave!

Regarding the Grass Valley show on the 11th, Robben is on tour, in the U.S., with Larry Carlton. They have a show in Lincoln, Nebraska, that night, according to Larry's website.

Daved

For what it's worth, I have now been on the forum for a few months and greatly enjoyed and benefitted from the dialogues that you have either initiated or participated in. Some of the dialogues haven't even featured your input but it's as though you are participating in spirit.

If I think about what I have gained from my own membership, it is fair to say that in the absence of any direct involvement from Robben that I am aware of, your presence is what has provided the substance and purpose of the forum and you have in effect been 'the voice of Robben'. That has suited us very well and frankly if I have an 'allegiance' in this respect, it is to Daved. Robben is some guy who plays fine blues guitar and who I may or may not get to see play live. Daved is a guy who finds time to engage with all the guitar players who are in some way inspired or influenced by Robben and who 'gather' in the forum to talk about stuff that matters to us.

Whereas Robben has never 'joined' the forum himself, it would be a pity if you were to leave it. Having experienced the effects of marginalisation myself in various contexts, I can assure you, at risk of getting kicked off the forum, that it is your comments here that have influenced a major shift in my playing style and choice of gear etc and all to the good. Listening to Robben is a lovely thing indeed, but the interpretation of Robben, his gear and his style have been entirely guided by your periodic but illuminating outbursts.

As has already been said, you'll find your own way, but you really do need to stay on board this forum so that we can continue to pick your brains and benefit from your experience. If I win the UK lottery, you can be my guitar tech!

David

Amen to that!

Daved, your sincere and generous input is what made this site worth visiting, for me.

I wish you all the best.

hi daved, sorry to hear that you are not robbens tech for these tour.I find it hard to believe, that after working with him for 8+years,his manager had to tell you your not on the tour.I always believed robben was a social person.Ican"t imagine him finding a more dedicated tech.I know that[ being an outsider],i don't know all the in's and out's,but i just wanted to let you know how much i appreciated your work.
