Thank you. I've been waiting for Robben to be on the cover of a mag. He deserves it.

My friend who told me about the article probably has a subscription to VG.....usually subscriptions are available before the issue is in the retail outlets. The newest VG will probably be available in a few days.

Since I have a subscription, I got my copy over the weekend. It's a great article. A lot of good and NEW information. For example, did you know that Robben favoriate looking guitar is the ES 355? Also, in terms of Robben's Fender RF guitars, he says that he only has one left, a newer model. What happend to all of those other ones? Garth Weber has one. I know Bill Morgan has one and I know Gene Baker was selling one on Ebay a couple years ago? There must be a few others floating around out there!

Just checked at Borders they have the September issue, which is not the Robben Ford cover. I guess what I'm looking for will be the October issue, VG website is not clear on that. Thanks to all for the info.

The October issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine featuring a cover story on Robben is now available at most retail bookstores. I picked up a copy today at my local Barnes & Noble. I haven't read the article yet, but there are great photos of some of Robben's guitars.

I got mine this past week. It's a good article. The interviewer asks some good questions and Robben gets the chance to fully answer them. Robben's sense of humor is a more evident in this article than in some of the other ones that I have read. I've been to a seminar with Robben and he is a very funny guy, but that doesn't always come across in most interviews. It does in this one. I found out some things I didn't know about Robben and there are some good pictures of some of his gear.
All in all, a well written article.

I would love a copy of this mag! I checked the VG website, and there seem to be some outlets for the mag in the UK, but all too far for me to travel to, and they won't post it!

Any chances anyone could get a copy for me? Very Happy I'll cover the costs.

All the best,

DD

Well , you can order it from their site, that's what I did.
Go to the "Store" section, then "Back issues" at the bottom of the page.

Got the mag two days ago, it's great, nice format, lot of cools pics and I even like the ads Smile
The RF article is really good. Strange that he didn't mention his collaboration with Baker though. I was wondering why his fifties Strat was not pictured, then I saw why later on...
I also liked the comments about Mike Landau, Larry Carlton and Eric Johnson.
That's really one of the first time I can read about Robben describing the beginning of his career, his influences, his opinions about fusion...really nice.
