Hi everybody,

I was just listening to the OhneFilter 1997 YouTube-clips, and especialy the Tiger Walk tracks blew me away. I'd like to buy the CD, but it doesn't seem to be available. Does anyone know if it will become available again anytime soon? (AmazonMP3 has it, though, so I could always buy it there, but I'd prefer to have the CD.)

Hi Ralph,

It's available on iTunes for $9.90.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reply. Wouldn't iTunes just give me some files to download that I would have to burn to a CD myself? I would prefer to have an original CD, since these tend to be of higher quality.

I was wondering why the CD isn't available from robbenford.com or other online resellers.

Yeah, iTunes would give you the songs in mp3s encoded at 128kpbs. And yes, you can just burn those to CD quite easily. Not the best quality I suppose if that is very important to you, but if it's the only thing you can get then it may be better than nothing. Personally, I don't feel like I'm missing out with the lower rate.

As for why you can't by the CD anymore but can download it, I can only guess. Perhaps it's because making a CD and the packaging is a much bigger deal (i'm sure you have to produce a minimum amount each pressing) and a digital download takes almost nothing to make available.

iTunes songs are actually in Apple's lossy format (AAC), which I think most folks generally agree sounds better than mp3's at a comparable bit rate. The iTunes files sound good to me. I'm sure I'd notice differences in a back-to-back comparison, but for most purposes they sound good enough.

Yes, you would need to burn your own CD to play it that way. And frankly, that's why I don't buy whole albums off iTunes very often--the price just isn't low enough compared to Amazon or what have you, given the slightly lower audio quality, lack of a booklet, need to provide your own CD, etc.

That being said, if iTunes is the only way to get Tiger Walk at a reasonable cost, I'd say do it. The music is great, the quality is quit good. I think you'll be pleased with it.

That eBay auction looks good indeed. But I'm in Europe and I have some reservations about buying things using PayPal. Also, shipping might take a long time.

So I'm going to buy it digitally. At this moment I don't have access to iTunes (no Windows or MacOS) so I'll buy it from Amazon.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

True. I stand corrected.
