Well, I like Robben too, have my own unique style (which is uniquely mediocre) and I wouldn't miss the banter and friendly exchanges here for anything. I disregard what I don't like or subscribe to, enjoy the wider debate about music and can 'relax' amongst a well informed and literate community. Occasionally there are some enjoyable descents into schoolboy/girl humour and this just adds to the dynamics of the forum.
I've subscribed to several and this is the one (apart from the wonderful Fender Discussion Page - notably the Bassman Owners' Club) that I always come back to ne informed, entertained, enlightened and uplifted.
If I left the forum for any reason, I'd be cutting off my nose to spite my face and later on, I would sneak back in under another name!!

Sfhalo
Sorry to hear you feel that way. I agree some discussions tend to stoop low towards the childish but sometimes it's fun. I strongly agree that discussions about settings, and picks and string gauge can get a bit silly. In part because one's individual style and gear preference dictate one's sound and tone but one's physiology also plays a role as Robben pointed out at a clinic I had attended. It's all in the hands, the left hand actually (if you play righty).
Despite the sometimes childish silly posts this is a great forum with great members all of whom contribute to the sum of its parts.
BTW - Truth is an excellent CD, getting better all the time. One of my favorite tunes is "You're Gonna Need a Friend." The BG vocals, main melody, and that guitar/bass hook all slay me!

Actually, this forum has, in the past year, been the driest I've seen it since I joined several years ago, and has only recently shown a little life in the form of thoughtfull, passionate, informative, humorous, and silly posts. Years ago, half the posts were about Robben's shoes and the rest of his attire, and how many shirt buttons were left unbuttoned at any given show...
A lot of how I view this forum and the one other that I frequent is like a daily get-together with people I consider friends. And usually, when I get-together with friends, there is humor to go along with all the other stuff we talk about.
Ok, so sometimes there's a bit more silliness than some care to see, but it's usually in short spurts and harmless, and I don't think it takes away from this forum at all...
And yes, Truth has grown on me too. In fact, after a little over a week of not listening to it, I have an urge to make it the cd for my commute home tonight...

WAIT SFHALO! You're one of the most interesting contributors on this BBS. Maybe just a bad day? A little more decaf next time?
Let's talk about Robben: A little silly sometimes; sometimes so deep it's hard to understand what he's doing. Sometimes lots of technical stuff; sometimes he just plugs in and plays. Sometimes you learn something from him or his music; sometimes he says something at a Clinic, or in a magazine, or in his music, that you think "I just can't get on board with that." In other words, he and his music are very complex.
Sound a bit like this BBS?
Hope to see you around for a long time. _________________ - BlueRunner

sfhalo, come back so I can tell you how my cat Kiwi took a piss on the pug board at the back of my studio. Large bang, followed by scorched cat cowering between legs of Layla (!) the labrador.
I had to balance my sheer anger at the carnage she caused with the look on her face when I got home from work. She now has an inbuilt fear of any kind of electrical connectivity devices!

If you don't like a CD, why spend time writing about it? The world would be a much nicer place if people focused on what brings them happiness vs complaining and criticizing everybody all the time.
If you're the publisher of a magazine or website, act responsibly. Don't take money for an ad placement and then publish an album review that knocks the product.
I was pleased to see a letter to the editor of Blues Review [in the Dec/Jan issue] from another reader who thought Hal Horowitz's comments were off base. Thank You, Tom Bryant ! You are my hero for putting your thoughts on paper and SENDING it to the publication.
The letter appears on page 5 of the new issue, which arrived in my mailbox yesterday. If you don't have a subscription, you can have a look for free at most bookstores. _________________ Travelling by train of thought
