My head has not always been aligned to movements in modern guitar culture, so I find I don't understand a few descriptions. Maybe you guys can help me.

1. What is a Player Guitar? - Fender has them.
2. What is a Fat Tele?

There are more, but I can't think of them right now.

I think the term 'player' guitar is just a buzzword surrounding a particular model from Fender, (Deluxe Player etc).

Possibly derived from the naming of vintage guitars as 'players' or 'collectibles'?

Fat tele or fat strat usually denotes the presence of one (or two) humbuckers in an otherwise single coil associated guitar.

Hope this helps.

A player guitar to me is a guitar that you can bring to gigs and rehearsals and not be afraid to have it scratched or dropped...the working man's guitar Smile nothing collectible.

Pierre: Sorry, I wasn't that clear. By saying that vintage strats (for example) were 'players' or 'collectible' I meant they were either/or.

As in a pristine 60's strat would be a 'collectible' but a 60's strat that's been stripped, refinished with a couple of refrets would be described as a 'player'.

Hence why Fender possibly use the term because it tends to put me in mind of a guitar that wants to be played and not hung on the wall and admired.
