Charles Brown is a favorite of mine, but nobody does it better than BB King. His various versions of Sweet Sixteen are what the Blues are all about to me. I like the guy fronting the Derek Trucks band too. His name is Mike Mattison. Mattison has it goin' on in a Robert Cray kind'a way.

For the contemporary ladies, I like Susan Tedeschi, but if I had to choose between the entire female Blues lexicon or just Ella's Jazz/Pop Standard catalogue, I think I'd go with Ella. I could listen to that lady sing all day long.

Well IMHO for a great all round Rock 'N' Roll voice you still cannot beat Dave Lee Roth!

However I love the sound of Robbens voice and guitar (in my top 3 artists) !, and I really like Gary Moore's when he sings the blues. and lastly you still cannot beat Jimi H for the perfect combination of voice and guitar.

I've been listening to a lot of Dr. John lately. He's got a great "Blues" voice, IMO. His compilation CD, "Best of the Parlophone Years," is wonderful. He sings with Mavis Staples, Randy Newman, Paul Weller, B.B. King, and some other great artists on this CD. I also like his "Live at Tipitina's Mardi Gras '89" for a live recording.

I have recently discovered Keb Mo and he's a really cool blues singer (and guitarist).

I love the way George Benson sings the blues.

I don't know about you, but I think Volker Strifler has a pretty fine voice for the blues! He's also been entered into the Grammy's under that category along with others!
